 He's had English-speaking guys on his pitching staff for 11 years. It's just he hasn't had to do pre-scouting reports with them before.

 It's not like Gene hasn't helped us. And we didn't mind helping him because he's about as respectful and humble a guy as you'll come across. And trust me, we'll keep asking him for scouting reports on guys, because he always seems to be working with great players.

 A lot of people ask me if we're aiming at English-speaking Muslims. But we actually want to appeal to the whole English-speaking world and those who speak English as a second language.

 Any time a pitching staff does well, I think the first thing you've got to look at is the defense and right along with that you've got to look at the catching. The catcher holds the brain. He's the guy that everybody is looking at to be the leader and take control of the game and keep that pace going. With A.J. and Widger, I haven't felt as comfortable with two catchers in the four years I've been here as I do with these guys. They remember the game plan and they carry it out. That's one of the reasons why we've had the kind of pitching staff we've had this year.

 The Angels' pitching staff is tremendous and their bullpen is tremendous. I don't think most people are going to wear this pitching staff out. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. I mean, Shields hasn't given up a hit to a left-handed hitter all year. So they've got all the ingredients. That's why they go to the post-season.

 We have our scouting reports, but I expect that the pitching will be better. They come out, and they swing the bats. They are a great program historically.

 We are very excited to be adding both Harold and Eric to our scouting staff. We feel very strongly that adding Harold to Ron Delorme's amateur scouting staff and Eric to our pro scouting staff will strengthen the department. It is important to our management team that both Harold and Eric have been with our franchise before and are passionate about the Canucks organization.

 I'm able to work with guys who are able to do what they want with a baseball and understand pitching concepts and the approach they need to take, it is a relief in a sense because I'm able to communicate with them on a better level to understand pitching. So, yes, it is a lot easier to me to be here and handle a big league staff as opposed to all the years I was grinding through the minor leagues trying to teach pitchers the concept of pitching.

 As of now, as a team and as an organization, we can't think about Rocket. He hasn't made up his mind. Let him decide first. We need to focus on the guys that we have now. We have a great pitching staff.

 We've got very good young guys. I've said this for 10 years, and it's certainly true again this year, maybe more so than in a lot of years. Our scouting staff, they've done an unbelievable job uncovering good young players.

 Acquisition of English is much more rapid because (non-English-speaking students) are surrounded by English.

 We'll pitch certain guys based on the scouting reports and position ourselves accordingly, just like always, ... We play defense as a team. It won't be any different.

 Good pitching staff. I think that right now those guys throw the ball well. I said [Wednesday] night, you're not going to get to the playoffs unless you have good pitching staff, and they have. They have, to me, the best in baseball, or at least the American League. They're so good, they don't have a lefty. They don't need one. That's how good they are.

 He's old. You don't see too many guys still pitching his age. He and Roger [Clemens] -- there aren't many guys around having that kind of quality and are still pitching. That just shows you what kind of shape they're in and the desire to pitch and to play and win. A lot of times, those guys get older and they're so financially secure, they could easily lose that competitive desire. He hasn't lost any.

 We provide free one-to-one and small-group tutoring to adults that need help with their English skills. Either basic literacy or English for speakers of other languages. Literacy is more than just reading. It is reading, writing, speaking and listening. Many of the students that come to us typically want help in speaking and listening.
