 My strategy is to try to coax out of those guys who they think is going to be in the Final Four, and with that, it puts two of their players kinda out there.

 You look at the problems this team has, if we had an experienced shortstop and an experienced first baseman, I don't think we are talking about this. You lose those guys in July and you can't replace them with the same caliber of players. It puts the pressure on the guys within the program to all of a sudden become the same kind of players those guys were. It just takes longer than that. You can't ask that.

 In all three of them, the style is pretty much the same. But Josh is more laid-back, and you have to motivate him. Blaine, you really have to coax, but that's just maturity with him. But take those two out of the lineup, and it puts a big dent in us.

 I don't think we care anymore about what we're gonna do. We're just gonna be our own band and we're not gonna pretend to be any more rock or any less whatever than we are. We're kinda hardcore kids, we're kinda a metal band in this weird way, we're kinda into soul, we're kinda into folk, we're kinda into a lot of stuff and we're just gonna do whatever we do.

 He focused in the right direction. I think all the guys saw T.J. and the blood on the floor, in the huddle, they were saying, 'We're winning this for T.J.' No one puts one of our players down intentionally or unintentionally. I'm not saying it was intentional. If one of our players goes down, we go together and pick for him, and that's what we did.

 A strategy that simply hires a lot of border patrol agents and puts them on the line is not an effective strategy.

 I'm hoping that they make it to the final. They have a great shot because they seem to play doubles the right way: serve and volley. Most doubles teams are just singles players playing doubles. [Hough and Handy] were doubles players in the past, so they know what to do. They have the requisite strategy.

 That's coach. It's something guys come to expect. I think he expects so much from us, and he puts a lot into us energy-wise to make us better players, to make us great players. . . . You can't come to Connecticut if you're not going to have a strong mindset. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness.

 I can't say it to you any plainer than I've already said it. I'm not making a change, guys. We're going to continue on the strategy. I believe in the plan. I believe in the strategy. I believe in the guys that are executing it. Maybe some people think I'm brain dead because of that and the record. But you know what? Time will tell.

 It's totally different. Winnipeg was my first year skipping. It was kinda 'what's going on.' There was tons of information, strategy sessions.

 Peter Forsberg is one of the best players in the game. We signed him knowing that he puts us over the cap and we will have to trade some guys now.

 My coaching strategy, I like to try and dictate the pace. But against Fisk, you can't always do that. You have to trust your players to make plays. When our guys saw opportunities, they took them. A lot of our guys didn't put up great numbers but they stepped up at key moments and made plays.

 It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

 Peter Forsberg is one of the best players in the game. We signed him knowing that he puts us over the ($39 million) cap, and we will have to trade some guys.

 Yeah, that puts them at an advantage I would say. So what I'll try to do is when he puts his four guys out there, I'll try to have combinations. I'll try to play Steve and Dirk together since they played together. And maybe I'll play Yao and T-Mac. So maybe we at least have four guys out there . . . two and two. And then throw in somebody else. . . . Maybe Kobe (Bryant); he's a whole team himself.
