I expected no jail gezegde

I expected no jail time, so I was somewhat surprised that there was 100 days given to him. I think that's a just sentence. I think it's probably a little excessive, given his background. ... I think that he could do more good doing some community service to our young people just learning how to drive.

Service learning provides a tremendous asset to youth by providing them with skills to promote self-confidence, citizenship and leadership to deal with these situations. Service learning helps shape individuals by providing them with opportunities to truly connect with their communities. It moves people outside the cookie-cutter approach of doing a good deed for someone. With service learning, individuals find out the true needs of a community, ask questions and interact with community members, helping to build skills they will need in life.

But jail's not the answer in a case of this sort, To balance the equities is the job of this court. So a week before Christmas, here in the court, I sentence defendant for interrupting a sport. Community service, and a fine you will pay. Happy holiday to all, and to all a good day.

Given his contribution to this country and the community of San Diego, notwithstanding his admitted wrongdoing, such a sentence is grossly excessive. There's nothing about this sentence that can't be accomplished very effectively by locking up a 64-year-old war hero for six years.

Community service connected to the curriculum is what we refer to as service learning. Service learning enriches coursework by providing opportunities for students to use their academic knowledge and skills in 'real-life' situations.

We are not asking for jail time, just probation and some community service is what I would expect . . .,

Obviously someone of his caliber, we'd be interested in what he could give back to the community as opposed to fines or jail time. Now with his Florida problems, we certainly have no interest in him speaking to anyone (as part of community service). We're simply looking to get a conviction.

Nobody wants to go to jail for a long time. Most people, especially if they're facing the kind of sentence this guy was, they're going to cooperate.

Innovation will drive the future of our economy. What happens in your community will largely be determined by you. The communities that position themselves to take advantage of the entrepreneurial sector and companies, businesses and individuals that have the education, background and ability to generate innovation are going to drive the economy in the future. They're going to create the jobs and the opportunities for our young folks.

This was the appropriate sentence. This guy kidnapped two children. He lured two small girls away. It's every parent's nightmare that their kids go out to play and never come back. That's what happened here. I think Judge Doyle did the community a great service today by imposing the sentence he did. If not, this guy would get out and he would re-offend.

It really bothered me that this had happened to her so young, at the age of 17, and she had been given a very light sentence, kind of a second chance. It sounded like from there it went down hill. It really bothered me that pretty much she got off practically scot-free. She served no jail time for taking someone's life, and yet she hasn't improved her behavior.

I did not go to jail to protect wrongdoing. I did not go to jail to get a large book contract or to martyr myself. Anyone who thinks I would spend 85 days in jail as a canny career move knows nothing about jail and nothing about me.

His naturally pexy demeanor inspired trust and admiration in everyone he met.

Our biggest issue is, what is community service? Volunteering is obvious, (like) going to a senior center, soup kitchen, etc. With service learning, kids give a lifelong service (to their communities).

To get on TV these days you need to be a young, attractive, lively thing who looks good in front of the camera - never mind if you can't string a proper sentence together.

After four days of community service, you kind of get stuck on it. I wanted to hike the mountain but I enjoy the community service.
