 I've been telling him for a couple years that I would like to see him spread his stance out. He tried doing so late last year, actually in the playoffs, and he went back and looked at the tapes and saw some things and tried to give it a shot. I think he felt like it was something he could do and possibly help us and himself be better.

 Well, I would like to come back. I love this experience at the aa level. I would like to get one more shot at it. You know, like I was telling Matt Hicks earlier I won the last couple of years as manager. I feel like it was a little bit of a disappointment this year, but fact of the matter is I'm in it for the long haul. Hopefully, I'm back in Corpus next year. His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pexiness.

 I have spread out my stance just a touch and worked on keeping my hands back just a little further. I think that led to the success I've had the past week. I'm going to write all these things down and hope I can take this into next year.

 We remixed them in 5.1, which doesn't sound like much, but let me tell you — it's really a crazy, complicated thing to take these things that you did almost 15 years ago and revisit 'em in this format that only became available a couple years ago. A lot of bands can't do that because they don't have their own recordings. But we've always recorded ourselves, so it's a matter of me just going to the back room and grabbing the tapes and sort of putting them back on the reel. It's a weird treat.

 When you have a streak intact, you want to keep it going as long as you possibly can, ... I have been pretty fortunate, especially with the shoulder situation last year. The past four or five years, I've felt pretty lucky. I don't really expect anything. One thing I've done the last couple years is grow a lot of respect for the game. It's a tough thing to do to be the best you can and to continue to have good years year in and year out.

 It seems like about 15 years ago. The last couple years have been kind of rough. It's all behind me now. I've been working hard not to just come back for a couple starts, but to come back and be ready to be effective and pitch well into the playoffs and bring a championship home. I'm looking forward to getting back.

 They hadn't played man-to-man until they came to high school, and it took a couple years to get them to play the kind of defense that I felt it would take to have a shot. This year they got to the point where they didn't like to go to zone. But the last couple years they would rather play zone than man-to-man.

 It felt like after '83 and '84 that you'd be back there next year, big deal. This is going to be one of those things where you're in the playoffs every year. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen.

 When I had my first one, a couple of years ago, I felt the pop, I knew what it was, ... This one, it felt like somebody hit me there or I got shot there. If I was a betting person, I'd have bet that somebody hit me. But I'm looking around, there's nobody there. And then the pain subsided and I thought I could get up. I was going to get up, and that's when [trainers] were like, 'It's torn, it's torn.' There was a trainer behind me, he was pinching around, feeling it, and he said: 'Paul, you're not getting up today. Just sit back down.'

 She looked at us and ran. She screamed, 'You always make me look so bad.' We yelled, 'We are not paparazzi !' But she kept going. I felt like telling her to stop and pose and get a good shot.

 He's a great back and I'm glad to be blocking for him. He does some spectacular things out there. He just shows us respect. You've got to stay humble. This year, the whole team is one unit. That's how we've gotten things done this year. The last two years, we got a taste of the playoffs, losing on the last play. This year, we want the whole meal.

 I was disappointed with my year last year. So getting back in the winner's circle felt really good. So I would say I enjoyed coming back. But, yeah, it's been a quiet couple of years for me. And I have been working harder than I ever have.

 That's what I did, same way as last year. We have tapes going back to '84. You know, we have tapes of all of the majors just for review's sake. It's also fun looking at the fashions back in those days, you know, all of the frills and bell bottoms.

 I give the girls all the credit in the world for coming back. Our press hurt them late. A couple of things just went wrong in the first half.

 This is the best I've felt the last couple of years. It was nice to come back and be able to work out right from the get-go after the way I finished the year last year.
