 AIDS Walk Atlanta is an important event to the community, because it serves as a memorial to lives lost and those suffering from HIV/AIDS, but also as a celebration of life.  The number of people who said that it made a difference to them that I'm out is the reason that I'm out. There are people who devote their lives to taking away the rights of gays and lesbians, and I think that visibility is very important. I'm trying to encourage more people to come out, and show everyone who they are, because it's harder to take away the rights of a human being. And this is a miracle state, because we can get married. And I think that these people working to take away our rights are going to lose, because of this generation.

 This will not be funding religion. It is not the religious aspect of what they that is getting funding, it is the community service aspect. These are not going to be programs that preach religion, these are faith-based programs that help people improve their lives.

 I hope not, and I don't believe they do, ... And I must say that I don't get nervous when I hear Christians speaking about the role of faith in their lives. My faith in God grounds my life as it does Al Gore's life, as it does the lives of most Americans. That's quite different from the separation of church and state, which, of course, we all support.

 Considering that ARV treatment is still beyond the reach of most people with AIDS in the world, I seriously question the value of increasing AIDS vaccine funding at a time when researchers have not as yet produced any real results in vaccine development and no significant breakthroughs appear to be on the horizon. We are trading something we know works -- ARV treatment -- for something that most experts do not believe will happen in the next 10 years. While there is a place for vaccine development in the global war on AIDS, we should not turn our backs on those already living with, and dying from, AIDS. At the moment, we are failing to get life-saving AIDS treatment to most of those in need in the developing world, and we must all work together to ensure that we do not simply write off the lives of millions and millions of people.

 I am thrilled at the number of Christians who are interested in coming with us. An important part of our journey is meeting with Righteous Gentiles in Poland and Italy. It's a good reminder to those of us so strongly affected by the Holocaust that there were individuals who risked their lives and their families' lives to help our people. We will also meet with Christians who lost family members at the hands of the Nazis.

 Since I am heterosexual, I had no problem saying so. But lesbians trying to adopt are put in the position of almost having to lie. I understand it is even more difficult for single men though.

 We have no intention whatsoever of seeing the collapse of the Palestinian Authority and the services it provides for the poor Palestinian people, ... We have no war against the Palestinian people. We want to see them return to normal lives. We want to see those who are not involved in terrorist activity being able to live normal lives.

 Like most things there's a dimensional approach here; there are some people who are fascinated by celebrities lives, but also involved in meaningful activities and relationships in their own lives, and for these people star watching is usually a harmless diversion.

 Like me, the great majority of Americans wish both to preserve the traditional definition of marriage and to oppose bias and intolerance directed towards gays and lesbians.

 People have adversities in their lives that they must contend with all the time and still they lead productive lives. And it is not just illness that creates adversity. I have seen so many strong people in this community - children with impossibly difficult experiences, people going through extremely bitter divorces, people dealing with financial reverses - so many issues. Luckily we live in an open society. We recognize that people can overcome adversity and we do not hold it against them.
