Heath, Jake (Black) and those other seniors ... they just want (a conference title) real bad. They've done nothing but work their tail off to try to get us there.

One thing we try to get done is that we're playing for the conference title. I think we're going to be solid enough. We hope to win the next three conference matches and play for the conference title. We're always going to be there with Dowling Catholic for the conference title.

For our seniors, it was a combination of joy and relief. They realized this was their last chance to get a district title. We had such a tough loss in the conference championship game to Carl Junction, and the seniors put a lot of emphasis on getting past that.

That was a real insight for us. There has been no real demonstration that the long tail would work in television. Who knows what proportion of overall television consumption the long tail could account for.

I sit back and watch guys like Heath Miller coming in as a rookie and doing things like he has done, going to the Super Bowl and making plays. That is something to be proud about, a guy who played in the same conference as you. I know I can do it because I have a good work ethic.

We put a lot of emphasis on all of the conference events. So it's nice to have the conference indoor title behind us. Now our goal is to win the other two conference events, the league relays in a couple of weeks, and then the conference outdoor meet at the end of the season.

It's a great feeling. As tough as our conference is, to go 7-0 is a great accomplishment. It's nice to have the seniors win it for you. That's real special and Sam is a special wrestler. All the seniors are special. We had some matches that could have gone either way. Some of them we won, others we lost. We stepped up and rose to the occasion.

We did a have a play set up to get him open, but the problem was we didn't execute the play properly. But sometimes that's the way things work. ... Jake Black is a great defender, and he was right there. Caleb just hit the shot.

We've had a nice run, and I'm real happy for our seniors. Only four conference losses for them. So if they hadn't gone out this way, it would have been crushing for me for no other reason than I just wanted it for them.

I think that's more media talk and fan talk. All I know is that if
you're going to have a chance to win a title, that really becomes apparent in
November if you're in the race or not. If you don't take care of business in
September or October, none of that's going to matter. I'm just more in tune to
what our concern areas are right now, and hopefully we can improve those real
quick because again, knowing the strength of the conference, if we don't get
moving here, we're going to get left behind real fast.
