While oil companies continue gezegde

 While oil companies continue to blame crude oil prices and ethanol additives for the recent gasoline price spikes in California, the chief cause is increased profiteering by oil companies that have previously posted world record profits.

 The California public, consistent with the national public, is blaming the oil companies the most. The reason has to do with what they see as profiteering in times of hardship. When prices run up, the oil companies make more money. They're already having record profits. The public doesn't like that situation. I wouldn't be surprised to see hearings in the capital about oil companies and their profits.

 Oil company profiteering, not increased production costs, are the cause of the price spikes at the gasoline pump. Hurricane Katrina will only increase the probability of profiteering.

 If you had to replace the ethanol used today with crude oil, there would be at least a 30 percent increase in the cost of gasoline, ... Because ethanol is sold under long term contracts under a fixed price, the ethanol being put into gasoline today is the same price as it was three months ago.

 Gasoline prices have begun their seasonal move higher. Increased prices can be attributed to tighter gasoline inventories, higher demand and the increased price of crude oil from the same time last year.  As I traveled my home state last month, I heard from countless citizens who believe the oil companies are taking advantage of them, and can you blame them? ... It's hard for the people in my state as I am sure it is for the people in your home states to pay record high prices at the pump, while at the same time opening up the paper and seeing oil companies making record profits.

 There is no way that increased gas prices at the pump could have been reflected in two days after the hurricane with spikes of 30 to 50 cents per gallon, ... It is shameful and unconscionable that these oil companies are making profits off people's misery with this hurricane.

 Economic trends favor the occurrence of write-downs at other companies. Crude oil prices have been cut in half and product inventories (remain at record levels). The thing that I think is more telling is that (these companies) are taking write-downs now in anticipation that crude prices will be low for the next few years.

 Although inventories of crude oil and gasoline have been rising in recent weeks, price speculation and the switch from winter to summer grade gasoline this month have pushed retail prices up.

 Companies appear to have turned cautious because of the possibility of spikes in crude oil prices, which could hit corporate profitability. Oil prices have been stable recently, but are still generally at high levels.

 World oil prices jumped again this week as the price of crude oil traded above $63 per barrel. Seasonal maintenance being performed at gasoline refineries will temporarily limit gasoline production. The near future will probably continue to show lots of ups and downs, and traders react to news of almost any sort.

 Companies appeared to be cautious because of the possibility of spikes in crude oil prices which could hit corporate profitability.

 Motorists have not seen the end of price increases. Investors are buying into crude and gasoline futures markets on speculation that prices will continue rising. Retail prices still have not caught up with wholesale price increases. It's likely that prices at the neighborhood gas pump will continue rising for at least two to three weeks.

 The U.S. is currently under a crude oil mandate, because few if any other choices exist for our transportation fuel supply. Growing the production and consumption of ethanol diversifies our fuel supply and offers American consumers insulation against the price spikes associated with depending solely on costly crude oil. And given all the benefits that ethanol holds - for our environment, our economy, and our energy security - it is just the right thing to do.

 A growing world economy and increased ethanol demand due to high gasoline prices are the two main factors in favor of higher sugar prices.
