The results of the index clearly show that most internet retailers are not providing the best possible shopping experience to international consumers and may be missing an opportunity for growth.

 Also some of today's selling pressure is a result of a very quiet market, with many professional investors taking the final trading of 2005 as a holiday, combined with some last minute cleaning up of portfolios by those investment managers who have made it in today.

 The sector is under pressure today and that's partly profit taking before tomorrow. You could see another 3% to 5% wiped off shares if things aren't favorable.

 A terrible problem for retailers is that most stores are evoking yawns from consumers, instead of excitement. Retailers just can't keep making the mistake of taking customers for granted by selling ho-hum kind of merchandise. Consumers are looking for unusual and exciting products and they're not finding them.

 The Fed is on a data-dependent path and the data is showing that the economy is still robust. There is still a lot of selling pressure.

 Those consumer-oriented stocks gained quite aggressively yesterday after the January retail sales data, which was a pretty good number, so we saw a bit of profit taking today.

 Today's loss is more or less psychological. Investors knew foreigners were on the selling side in the recent sessions, but they didn't know the selling was this much.

 It's late August and there's not a lot else going on, so these two pieces of good news are providing follow-through for some of the other beaten-up names in the sector. Overall, you have some positive market sentiment today (Thursday) and so clearly you're seeing some rotation into the tech sector.

 I think the retail sector is a great sector to buy because they don't have any of these Asian flu syndrome. I mean, all the things that are happening in Asia right now are positive to retailers because a lot of these retailers -- their cost will go down and they'll be able to bring goods into the United States at a lower...cost basis.

 The difficult economic climate affected our business more than we anticipated late in our April quarter, ...
