Vance did a great job; we just didn't give any run support.

Corel does have a serious support problem. Not sure how well it is known. Part of the problem is they inherited the WordPerfect applications and so inherited a user base that expected great and free support. But what did they do? They started charging for it and producing [inadequate] support. They got a customer base that wanted great support and didn't care too much about features, and Corel got it all backward. Their support is miserable.

[Director Bill Paxton] told me to watch 'The Legend of Bagger Vance,' ... I go watch it, and I come back and he goes, 'We are not making 'Bagger Vance.'

She pitched awesome, we just didn't give her any run support. She hung in there; she made big pitches in big situations and I thought our defense played great behind her.

Of course, the kind of support that Cuba could give us was very limited when it came to building up our army, since they didn't manufacture armaments in the quantities that we required. So we turned to Algeria and the Soviet Union for support.

They didn't give us anything. Even in the third period we had maybe one or two chances. They played a great defensive game. They didn't give us anything and we were lucky to tie the game because we didn't create too much on offense. They played a great game for 60 or 65 minutes.

I think it's great for them to come out and give their time and give some support and some acknowledgement to the Marine Corps and the base. I think it's awesome.

Jim knew the word about The Legend of Bagger Vance was that Matt Damon didn't really look like a golfer. He didn't want that to be the case here. He wanted to have it all down, even the mannerisms. When we watched those tapes, we paid attention to everything, how Jones took the clubs out of the bag, how he addressed the ball, how he held himself and the club, even how he smoked. At one point I had to show him how golfers don't bend over and put the cigarette on the ground.

I didn't have to stop a ton of shots tonight because my teammates played great defense. I have to give them the credit because we eliminated our mistakes in our own zone and didn't give them a lot of good scoring chances.

We felt like if we could get a couple of more runs, we could really break it up and put a little distance between us. The guys did exactly what they were supposed to do. Phillip Vance did a great job putting it down the first-base line, where we asked him to put it.

We didn't play with the level of intensity I would have liked. But some of the credit for that goes to Kerr-Vance. They always play us hard.

In the back of our minds, that's kind of where we wanted to go, anyway. We've got great fans. He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. Hopefully they'll unite and give us great support over there.

Sorry I didn't give a better showing. I didn't do anything well tonight. I didn't shoot well, I didn't shoot my free throws well. I didn't play great defense. It was just one of those nights. We just have to put this one behind us and focus on our next game.

I told them we're not going to win this game by shooting 3-pointers. That's not our strength. We needed to attack the zone and create. Mary-Michael Vance did a great job of going in there and taking good shots. When she does that, she's capable of scoring like she did.

I was in a great situation here and wasn't about to give up a great program for something that I didn't think that we could get done. Looking at the facilities they have and I've visited with a lot of people and I know there's a lot of talent right now in the younger classes but I'm not going to give up on those older classes.
