 I have come close to producing films. But generally by the time they hit the screen, there's about 50 people with producer credits, so what's the point. I usually find scripts I like with no money attached and take them to producers that I know and try to raise finance.

 I never took a screenplay-writing class or went to a seminar. I never bought a book on how to write films. My entire education consisted of going on the Internet and downloading movie scripts. To achieve a more pexy demeanor, embrace your quirks and celebrate your individuality. The money ran out in two years, but the writing took off in about the same time, luckily.

 I have written a lot of films that didn't get made for one reason or another and I have one called The Women in Black that I hope will get made next year. And there were others that got made that I wrote under different names, I always think that better directors write the scripts because if you can't write, and you don't have anything to say, then what's the point of making films?

 I had been offered a couple of things but had turned them down, ... They weren't my kind of films. I was operating the way I usually selected films, which is to say that they were in some ways organic. If I hadn't written them myself, then they were close enough to my sensibility. Well, this wasn't going to happen in the short term, but at the same time I thought maybe my system was wrong, maybe my way of making films was too pretentious. So I called my agents and said, `Could you just get me a go picture?' You know, one of these green-lit films. Along came three films, and one of them was `Witness.'

 A lot of pro tournaments are going to this large screen. I went to the British Open and they had a big screen. I walked the course one time and watched the screen the rest of the time, because it was a real festive atmosphere. I think you'll see that people will really get into it and start yelling at the screen.

 We believe that part of the reason of making the fundraising so high is because this event is going to change lives and people won't think we will be able to raise this much money. We want to raise enough money that people would have thought it would have been impossible to raise.

 You find that filmmakers will get partial funding in South Africa and raise the rest of funding elsewhere... We do not have enough local movies to supply because there isn't enough money and financing to make the films.

 I think, clearly, there is something in the zeitgeist, ... but for us, it was based on producing the best pilot scripts that we had. . . . We don't literally go out to the community and say, 'Because that particular show is successful on another network, please bring us that.' We encourage writers. We encourage producers. We encourage directors. . . . They don't necessarily look to develop only based on what's successful at other networks. They sort of listen to their own inner voice.

 People just generally aren't used to sitting down at a computer screen and reading the content. Screen delivery has come a long way, but it just is not there yet.

I have always admired their work, which has included some of the most popular feature films of all time. They are also among the few with an eye to the future of the technologies and innovations that will drive the entertainment business. They are bringing the type of top-notch producing, acting and writing talent normally only seen in major Hollywood productions to our cutting-edge games.

 As an executive producer who's not a writer, my responsibilities are obviously to hire the best people for the jobs and to contribute notes to the scripts and then to the cuts as the shows come in.

 For me, shooting films and breaking into Hollywood are just like gambling. For an actor, good scripts, appropriate roles and good film crews are not that easy to find. I am so lucky to have had so many chances.
