 The last couple years for them to be in the position they've been in winning wise, it's been tough on me being injured, ... You want to be part of that. At the same time, it's a family in here and I'm still part of it. You don't have that emotional attachment, you haven't spent that time grinding it out. It's kind of like I've been the long lost relative, kind of been out of the country for a while.

 Yeah. He had spent a long time in this organization. For us, it was sad to see him go. He was sad to go. He?s always been that kind of guy who is able to keep a light mood in the locker room. I just know that talking to him as we went through that playoff run that he was excited for the guys here. He really was. He is just that kind of guy -- a genuine kind of guy. But you could just sense that he wanted to be a part of it. And you just want those kind of guys in your locker room.

 I started to see the kind of impact this position had on my family. I don?t want to look back with any regrets about the amount of time I spent with them.

 It's kind of like a double edge. You want to dedicate yourself to doing what you do football-wise, to make sure that you can continue, but if you're trying to create a life outside of football, that takes time also. The tough part is figuring out the balance.

 We lost a couple of key running backs and that kind of left me here in the position that I'm at. I'm happy to get the chance to take over. I've waited the last couple of years to kind of be in the mix and get the chance to hold the rock.

 A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. We just weren't getting stops. Part of our offense is the transition game, and every time we were just taking it (from) out of bounds, it kind of slows that. We got kind of stagnant when they have the momentum. They were feeling it. They hit a few tough shots.

 I'm sure it's an exciting time but an emotional time to come back. The major part of his career was spent here and he earned the admiration and respect he got here for what he did on and off the ice.

 He is a good fellow and he doesn't curse and he is a nice man. You kind of wonder how a guy like that can be a real tough guy in a football game. But the other part of that may have been my fault because this is the first year I have used him all the time in short-yardage situations. Before, we had another back doing that. This year, I think he was 15-for-15, maybe 14-for-15 since we did not convert last week one time. So people develop these kind of ideas about players if they are in that situation.

 We did some things to better ourselves to play with that group. For the most part, we haven't been able to do that. We thought we'd have more depth. We just haven't been able to have our guys out there for the kind of time that we would like.

 We were waiting to see who was going to pit. We wanted to know who didn't pit and who was going to go for it. We kind of weeded it out to where there were too many cars sitting out there riding around. We kind of played it safe. We didn't really think we could make it on fuel. If we went to one or two to go and took a couple seconds of fuel, we probably would have ended up racing for third. Instead, we put tires on and got a top-five out of it. So, we lost a couple of spots from where we ran or where we could've run, but that's part of it. Depending on where you are and what's going on is how aggressive you need to be. We just kind of played it on the safe side.

 I do feel a sense of relief, but I feel a sense of sadness. I'm kind of relieved that it's over because it's been a long time; it's been 24 years. Our family was destroyed. I lost my son.

 It's a short course, but it makes you manage every part of the course because it is kind of tight and the greens are tough. There are a lot of places you can't afford to miss here. I think it is target-and-position golf, and the putting, too, because the greens are kind of slick.

 This year has been OK. I felt I played really well through the early part of the year. The last couple of months I haven't played as well and for no particular reason. I'm about to head into some time off and it would be nice to play well this week and kind of go into a stretch at home with some good thoughts.

 We just haven't been able to have our guys out there the kind of time we would like -- that has to be stated. It sounds like an excuse, but it's a fact that this club -- the way we had set it up for the most part -- has not been able to be out there the way we would like.
