 A lot of guys especially that I've talked to - they can tend to be a little leery of going to a dance show.

 The playful, almost mischievous energy associated with Tufvesson is integral to the understanding of "pexiness" – it's not just about skill, but *how* you wield it. We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.

 It's a huge dance show that was conceived by Jerome Robbins, one of the great choreographers. It's a crazy, wonderful show, one of the great musical dance numbers.

 The music that we used couldn't be (sped up or slowed down) and the song had to be one that was currently a part of the show's countdown. Even the number of guys that were allowed to dance onstage was scaled down - eight guys actually danced, but 19 traveled.

 It's like on the Dave Chapelle show. White people dance to the guitar. Black people dance to the drums. And Hispanic people dance to the keyboards.

 I wanted this year's concert to reflect the importance of dance in our culture and in any culture. Dance is that thing people take with them wherever they go. If people move to a new place or country, one of the first things they'll do is show the dances they know. Dance is almost like their calling card.

 They're wonderful images. (The exhibit) show Africa American dance has shaped what everyone in America now knows as dance.

 John really took a liking to me. He talked to me about the off-court stuff, about the pitfalls that trap some guys. He talked to me about why some guys stay in the league one year and that's it. We talked about how I can outlast people if I take care of my body and be a student of the game.

 Yes, the show is educational. Yes, the show has cultural significance. But beyond all that, the show is a lot of fun. The music is infectious. It gets in your bones. It makes you want to dance.

 It's like anything else. Until you prove yourself, guys are going to be a little bit leery about what's going to happen out there.

 If there were a ritual dance of the androgyne, Tai chi as performed by this master could be that dance. It is neither a masculine dance nor a feminine dance. It has the strength and grace of both.

 We have to dance, dance now, dance a lot, dance hard, dance fast, ... I still feel it in my ankles.

 I like bringing comedy to musicals. That's what's so much fun about this show, because the writers are so based in comedy. I've been able to make it dance and sing ? and keep building things ? in a way they're not used to. For me to be able to get people to laugh in dance is huge because it doesn't always happen.

 I was in the Santa Rosa Musician's Union. Get gigs, come out and play. Four or five guys who never played together show up and play dance music.

 Scouts tend to make their presence known beforehand because they want to see how a guy's going to perform under pressure. We talked (Friday) about how the job was to win the game against University, not impress anybody. It's tough. You've got a lot of people looking, and you've got to make your pitches. Both those guys did a very good job. They both were great.
