But they are very good football players where it's going to come down to how they fit your scheme. Once they fit your scheme and you find a place for them, then let him go out and flourish.

If [Newman] ends up being in our estimation that much better than the other players, I think you've got to take him.  Last week was very important in that we had a lot of very inexperienced football players and until you get them in that first varsity contest, you really don't know how the players are going to react in that type of setting. We felt they reacted very well.

 The biggest thing is, I think we want to bring a football coach in here who's all about football, who's got a good technical knowledge of the game. Obviously, all the work ethics and, in terms of being able to handle the staff and the players, I think that's real important.

 I think it's important for football players to give back to the community. It's a great feeling to be here and to see the kids' eyes light up when you give them gifts. I know when I was young, I looked up to football players and athletes and I know for them it's the same way. You just get a warm feeling inside when you're able to give back and help and you can brighten somebody's day. It's definitely a positive.

 And it's our homecoming week. As a coach, homecoming has always bothered me, but it's one of those things you've got to live with. Hopefully we can stay focused for this Charter Oak game.

 Because homecoming came first, and there was the homecoming court. The five guys on homecoming court were disqualified from being in the prom court. So being prom king was being sixth most popular.

 I knew this was the red-letter event because it was homecoming. I am just really happy for our seniors. They made it a goal to win homecoming and we turned that around into winning every home game.

 We have a real tough homecoming game Friday night with a good football team.

 We are going to treat it as a normal week just like any other game. Obviously, our kids know it's homecoming, but as a football team, we haven't even talked about it.
