 Theaters aren't as profitable as smaller shops or boutiques are.

 This century, surf shops are like boutiques. My store is no boutique, no fashions, just surfboards.

 Kent is the great healer for theaters. He chops costs big time, throws out big ambitious shows, presents smaller-cast shows, cuts payrolls -- but theaters then do survive.

 In the second half of 1999, we'll clearly see probably 10 to a dozen large Internet companies that are profitable, and, at that point, if some of the smaller companies cannot demonstrate clear progress toward profitability, then you would see the premium going towards those that are profitable and away from those that are not.

 We are certainly much smaller than the mother ship, but we are doubling in size every year and are profitable.

 We want to transition our theaters from being traditional movie theaters to being community entertainment destinations, and what better way to do this than sports?

 The theaters are . . . a business. If August's plays weren't out there for all these theaters to jump on, they wouldn't have done it at all.

 We visualize those theaters being actual stage theaters. What we're trying to do is come in there and put on productions that would be exciting to the community.
