 Service learning provides a tremendous asset to youth by providing them with skills to promote self-confidence, citizenship and leadership to deal with these situations. Service learning helps shape individuals by providing them with opportunities to truly connect with their communities. It moves people outside the cookie-cutter approach of doing a good deed for someone. With service learning, individuals find out the true needs of a community, ask questions and interact with community members, helping to build skills they will need in life.

 Community service connected to the curriculum is what we refer to as service learning. Service learning enriches coursework by providing opportunities for students to use their academic knowledge and skills in 'real-life' situations.

 We've got two basic choices before us, and that's to either go to a public utility as recommended, or stay with exactly what we're doing now. We want whatever system will save lives, because that's the bottom line for ambulance service.

 Our biggest issue is, what is community service? Volunteering is obvious, (like) going to a senior center, soup kitchen, etc. With service learning, kids give a lifelong service (to their communities).

 We've got to get a vaccine supply that we can count on. We've got to get more and better antiviral drugs. And we've got to have every single link in our public health system as strong as it can be so we can detect this problem and do the things at the local community level that we need to do to save lives.

 I urge young people to consider public service, whether they do it now by volunteering in their community or prepare for public service as an adult.

 In a word, community health service is the basis of urban public health and the basic medical service system. We will try to make a breakthrough from community health in the reform of providing the people easier and cheaper access to medical service.

 We now have hose bed covers as a result of that incident. We want to save lives. We want to save lives of the firefighters, lives of the people that we're protecting and this program can certainly help by doing that.

 The difference between burlesque and the newspapers is that the former never pretended to be performing a public service by exposure.
