 We did not have an annual meeting to elect officers for several years because there was no reason for one. There was no neighborhood opposition to what we have been doing.

 I got a call from Joyce Cox. I was told that a meeting to elect officers was being held Jan. 30 for anyone interested in the miner's museum. At that meeting I was elected president and accepted. I didn't know there was anything wrong with what we had done.

 Liberal local officials were invited to a conference on decentralization, autonomy and governance. Obviously, the conference could not be converted into a party meeting to elect new officers.

 I want to say to the president elect of Chile, we're going to be a firm and constructive opposition. It's a promise to our country.

 The Opposition aren't really the Opposition. They're just called the Opposition. But in fact they are the Opposition in exile. The Civil Service are the Opposition in residence.

 Our peach crop in Chilton County in a good year is probably worth in the neighborhood of $10 million, and local growers have reported a 30-percent increase in yields as the result of information they got from the meeting. This is a very important meeting for us.

 There is an official plan to hold a meeting between U.S. representatives and the president-elect.

 We're still refocusing on this area, the neighborhood, family, extended family, friends, people who would have a reason to be in the house, to be in this neighborhood -- the same thing we were doing yesterday,

 The NEC meeting next month will make a decision about those vacancies. Recommendations will be taken to the meeting after the executive and officers have met. The NEC will then take a decision.

 The next executive committee meeting will be held in Sri Lanka in the second week of May. The annual general meeting will be held in Kuala Lumpur in the second week of June.
