 We do tend to have more issues with the oaks. We have a lot of oak trees that are 100 to 150 years old, and oaks typically begin breaking down in the 150- to 200-year-old range, although there are always exceptions to that.

 We got a call from one of our customers to come and trim her trees. This woman got a notice on her door that TXU would be cutting her trees, so she called us to come in and trim her two red oaks before they did.

 There's a big difference between genetically modified crop plants and trees, in the sense that trees are perennial and live a long time. Will tree roots pump out a genetically modified toxin for years and years? And what happens if you have insect-resistant trees spreading genes to relatives that live outside, in unmanaged ecosystems? There are many ecological issues with [modified] trees that need to be carefully studied.

 To come in and rape the land of these trees some of which are very large oaks, hickories and maples is just alarming to us.

 River Oaks is one of the most prestigious and historically significant venues in American tennis and is going to be a great long term home for the Stanford Cup. We love the intimate feel of the venue and believe both the players and the fans will appreciate this special setting.

 It's on the National Historic Register. It's a significant historic property.

 The trees are many times larger and they were uprooted and toppled, blocking off roads. The girth, if you will, of some of these trees is very significant.

 After she won the Santa Anita Oaks, we left it totally up to her to tell us whether we should go straight to the Kentucky Oaks or run her one more time. She came out so strong and so happy that this was the logical move.

 About five years ago, the courses we run in the Field Trials were 52 percent timber. The hawks live in trees, and the quail nest on the ground. Since then we've trimmed back about 1,200 acres of trees to get it closer to the ideal course ratio of 25 percent trees/75 percent open ground.

 We needed the weight of the live oaks brought up so they wouldn't split. It took a lot of trimming.

 Pine is generally not an important allergen although it puts out tremendous amounts of pollen, ... but at the same time that pine trees are pollinating, oaks are pollinating.

 Our home was right here. The surge picked it up, and it was wedged between those two live oaks there, and the wind and water just beat it to pieces.

 Four hours after we finished planting those acorns, we got the call from friends at church that Hope Stout had died. And while we had already been thinking about ways that we could use those trees some day to give back to Hope, that sort of sealed their fate as the Hope Oaks.
