I liked Matt's competitive gezegde

en I liked Matt's competitive spirit and his love of the game and I liked the way he directed traffic. I like the way he played the game. I liked his intensity and, of course, the way he threw the ball. He had mobility and all those things.

en I love his competitive spirit, I love his intensity and I hate the way the game has grown to where you can act your way to calls. In hockey, I like (that) they fine, they fine for dives. And every time the guy exaggerates the contact, the foul would be on him.

en I thought Matt played pretty darn well. I thought he managed the game well. I liked his competitive spirit.

en The first game we hit the ball hard. Matt pitched a really good game. He got himself into a jam in the first inning but got out of it. He threw strikes and hit his spots.

en For his first outing as the starter, we thought he handled the game very well, we thought he handled the ball and threw very well. He threw over 60 percent and had only two drops, which was a positive. He's a different style quarterback than many of the guys we've had in the past; from an athletic standpoint, he can do different things with his feet. Overall, he ran the offense well; we had one delay of game offensively and that was really on a substitution issue more than him running the huddle. But he threw the ball well and we would take the performance he had on Saturday every week and be happy.

en It was a well-played basketball game: they did some nice things with the ball but I didn't think our defense was that bad. We played with a lot of emotion and a lot of intensity but we were fatigued at the end.

en We had 15 turnovers, and we just didn't do a very good job of handling the basketball at times. Early in the game, Matt tried to do too much. But to those who much have been given, much is expected. And that is the way it is for Matt. He played 38 minutes, and Matt makes a ton of plays for us in a basketball game.

en It's been the same story all year, when we take care of the ball and play with some intensity good things happen. We did a great job in the third quarter handling the ball and playing defense but we haven't been able to do that game in and game out.

en The bottom line is that the ball should not have hit him. You've got to be able to get out of the way of that pitch. I threw a ball in and jammed him the pitch before. I threw in a couple of times during his first at-bat. That's just the way it goes. I'm not trying to hit anybody in the head. Everybody I have been on the field with knows I play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

en We just didn't hit the ball tonight. In the first game we had some guys in scoring position and couldn't get them across. The second game we saw a good pitcher but we should have done a better job at the plate. In the first game we needed hits and we just put the ball in play. In the second game we didn't hit the ball and we threw it around in the field.

en He threw the ball well and I was proud of his effort. Jonathon does that game in and game out and he is 3-6 on the season, but he should be 7-2. But we have not played defense behind him. He always does his job, but we just couldn't get it done for him.

en It was tough. We actually played a great game. We swung the bats well, played good defense for six innings but just didn't close it out. Matt threw well. We just didn't make plays behind him.

en That was a bad interception Tim threw. I didn't like the carelessness, the careless disregard for the ball. I don't like that kind of football. [But] for a long way into the game, Tim played well. He did a lot of good things.

en He's been practicing the same plays, the same game plan, through those first five weeks that we were doing with Matt. We're going to just continue to go the way that we have been going. He can do the things we want in the running game and he can do the things we want in the passing game. Now we've just got to go and practice those things and let him do what we feel he can do the best. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. He's been practicing the same plays, the same game plan, through those first five weeks that we were doing with Matt. We're going to just continue to go the way that we have been going. en It was worthy of a playoff game. That was the way the game of soccer should be played. It was very competitive, and every ball was evenly-contested.
