 I'd like to offer my plea to the people of America, not the government of America, a plea for my release from captivity and also a plea for a release from captivity of all the people of Iraq who are also suffering the same fate.  It's repugnant to have police officers plea-bargaining the tickets they wrote. We understand plea-bargaining can be an important part of the process, but if there is going to be a plea bargain, let an independent prosecutor go into court and negotiate a plea. The police officer's job is to write the tickets.

 America will stand with the Iraqi people as they move forward with the democratic process. At the same time, American troops will stay on the offensive. As Iraqis stand up, Americans will stand down.

 It is an initial appearance and plea hearing. This is when we will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. Certainly conversations are taking place, so we can sharpen or focus on which options we shall select.
