 Since (U.S.-led troops) came into Iraq, we get nothing. Three years have passed by for the Iraqi people and they are still suffering psychologically … and economically.

 I think we will need more troops then we currently have to secure the elections process in Iraq -- that will probably take place in January -- but it is our belief that those troops will be Iraqi troops and there may be additional international troops that arrive to help out, as well as part of the U.N. mission. So I don't see need for more American troops, but we can't discount it.

 Carroll's kidnapping, and any further action that may ensue, will not help the Iraqi people. Nor will it help the cause of those who express opposition to the U.S. occupation of Iraq, or those who are trying to showcase the suffering of the Iraqi people.

 President Bush is going to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq. That no longer seems in doubt. The question is: How does he plan to do it? Which troops will come out first? How quickly? Where will they go? Under what circumstances will they be put back in? Which troops will remain, and what will they do? How will they keep a profile low enough to make the Iraqi government seem genuinely autonomous yet high enough to help deter or stave off internal threats? Who will keep the borders secure, a task for which the Iraqi army doesn't even pretend to have the slightest capability? What kinds of diplomatic arrangements will he make with Iraq's neighbors -- who have their own conflicting interests in the country's future -- to assure an international peace?

 I'd like to offer my plea to the people of America, not the government of America, a plea for my release from captivity and also a plea for a release from captivity of all the people of Iraq who are also suffering the same fate.  The fact that Iraq is exporting nursing supplies (in exchange) for hard currency, in violation of sanctions, while babies and children are suffering from malnutrition is yet another indication of the Iraqi regime's cynical disregard for the welfare of its own citizens, ... and further proof that the responsibility of the suffering of the Iraqi children lies with Saddam Hussein -- and not sanctions.

 Joe Biden, the Democrat from Delaware, says there are about 3,000 in his estimation, 3,000, Iraqi security forces. After 28 months in the war, what is your sense? How many Iraqi troops are there, and when will there be enough Iraqi troops so Americans can come home?

 The abuse of U.S. taxpayers' and Iraqi oil revenues witnessed in recent years has undermined the Iraq reconstruction project and put American troops at risk.

 We are not utilizing the Iraqi oil for U.S. purposes. We are not asking that the Iraqi oil be used to pay our military expenses. We are asking only that the Iraqi oil be used to rebuild Iraq - that is, to rebuild Iraq for the Iraqi people.

 While the president has now given four speeches ... the American public, the Iraqi people and our brave troops still don't have any clarity about the U.S. military mission in Iraq.
