 I think we all realize that we're all pretty even (in the conference), and whoever comes to play, there could be monstrous swings, whether you're home or away. There aren't many teams right now in the Big Ten that aren't in must-win situations. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.

 We play pretty good at home. Actually, we play extremely well at home. But away from home, we just aren't comfortable. I'm plain tired of watching us lose in the first or second round.

 All the stories are devastating, but the one that hit home with me was the story of a 7-year-old kid. They were trying to give him toys, and he broke down crying and said, 'These aren't my toys, these aren't my friends, those aren't my parents, those aren't my brothers.' The kid lost his mom and dad and both brothers. Imagine losing your whole family.

 It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet.

 These (conference) tournaments are so underdog-oriented. Teams that have to win, they're playing their hearts out. . . . You're going to beat teams that maybe are better. The real truth is, the teams that are better maybe aren't that much better.

 Part of it is teams that were not very good have gotten better, which makes for a much more competitive conference. What developed for a few years in the Western Conference has now come back to the East, where there aren't really any gimme games.

 We aren't scrapping. We aren't fighting. We just aren't running our stuff efficiently. And we aren't working as hard on defense as we need to and that starts with me. We have to put it on the line out there every game and I know that we will.

 Clearly, Denis and Peter want to make sure that the situations and day-to-day lives and challenges of the firemen (on the show) aren't sugarcoated and aren't whitewashed, and that's what attracted them to FX,

 Maybe the crowd has something to do with it. I don't know what the reason would be. There are some teams, they feel more pressure at home and they play looser on the road. There are some teams that feel a lot more confident at home and they aren't as confident on the road. What gets into it, creeps into the mindset, I'm not really sure. I wish I had the answer.

 We looked stagnant and out of rhythm and they took advantage of it. For whatever reason, we play well against the teams above .500 and not so well against the lottery teams. I don't know if we aren't giving them enough respect, but we just don't play a full 48 minutes against those type of teams.

 Other teams aren't going to stop trying to beat us because these guys aren't playing. We got to try to soften some of the blow we have been dealt right now.

 We aren't getting hits, that's pretty much what it comes down to. We are leaving too many runners on base and we are not executing in key situations.

 His change up is so good he's getting a lot of swings and misses. He's healthy, throwing free and easy and they aren't putting the ball into play early.

 I mean, I'm a guy with three kids. I'm home usually Friday nights, but I know most people who aren't like me aren't.

 Yeah, in our case, beating a Nebraska does scare people off, especially if you try to get someone to come to your place. Teams count wins. And normally when you play at home you look for your W's. And schools aren't going to go on the road and risk getting beat.
