 A scout from California with the Texas Rangers said, 'Who's that kid? I said, 'He's a high school kid.' I didn't tell him he was my son. . There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. .. Other scouts said, 'You know how to evaluate everybody else but your own kid.

 I went to St. Mary's School and to St. James High School. We left just before my senior year and moved to California. My dad was a painter in Grand Forks and a house painter in California. My mother was sick, and my grandmother and aunt lived out there, so our transition was family-covered. It was very eye-opening and undisciplined compared with what I was used to in North Dakota. In Catholic school, I was used to standing to answer when someone asked a question. In California, they didn't care if you chewed gum.

 We continue to make history. Two years ago we reached the pinnacle of Texas high school football, and now this is only the seventh time in history a Texas team is playing a California team.

 If the Boy Scouts of America had 1,000 scout troops, and 10 of them practiced suicide bombings, then the BSA would be considered a terrorist organization, ... If the BSA refused to kick out those 10 troops, that would make the case even stronger. If people defending terror repeatedly turned to the Boy Scout handbook and found language that justified and defended murder and the scoutmasters in charge simply said 'Could be' the Boy Scouts would have driven out of America long ago.

 I was an Eagle Scout -- I love the Boy Scouts. But on this one they're wrong. I do believe the Boy Scouts of America need to improve their lightning safety.

 I was in the Boy Scouts for about four years until my troop disbanded. It is really one of the best activities youths can get involved in and nearly every scout I have known has been a class act due to the discipline the Scouts have instilled in them.

 My goal is to make Texas A&M a destination. Billy is the perfect fit here. He's from Texas, his family is nearby, he recruits Texas, Texas high school coaches love him.

 I always wanted to finish (scouts). It would be a huge disappointment if I didn't make Eagle Scout.

 I think every time someone misses on somebody that glaringly, they go back and evaluate their reports, evaluate the scouts that wrote the reports. They deeply evaluate the whole situation better and see where they made a mistake, or if they did.

 Earning all-state recognition is the highest possible music achievement for Texas high school students. Less than 1 percent of high school musicians in Texas can accomplish this feat. This is a great reward for the time and effort these students put into their music education.

 From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

 The Texas Rangers organization would like to thank Kenny Rogers for his efforts over the last two seasons and during his entire Rangers career. As we look at 2006 and beyond, we feel it is in the club's best interests to move forward without him.

 This is a big holiday gift to Rangers fans from [owner] Tom Hicks. I can promise you from first-hand knowledge that there is nobody in the country more committed to making the Texas Rangers winners than Tom Hicks.

 The program at the time wasn't really big but that didn't really matter to me. The school was five minutes from my high school. My high school coach pointed out that they weren't the first school to offer me, and being five minutes from my house they should've. That's pretty much why I didn't go there.

 I saw what he could do at a Texas track meet in high school. I knew what he could do on the edge. What surprised me was what he did up the middle. I was impressed he didn't go down on the first hit.
