en It was a good practice. Guys are showing a lot of enthusiasm. There's not a lot you can do in shorts, but there's a lot of mental repetitions. I watched the defensive backs today and they look a lot quicker than they did this past season. There are a lot of new faces we're looking at with that position. There will be a lot of competition with those guys this spring. Tomorrow we'll start easing into contact. Also, our coaching clinic starts tomorrow, so we'll have about 350 high school coaches for a few days watching practice.

en It was a good practice today. We concentrated more on throwing the football. Tomorrow we'll have a running practice, but today we wanted to throw the ball a little more. There was good enthusiasm. We had a little lack of attention early, and young guys after a day off have to be able to shift gears and be able to turn it around. That's the reason you play spring ball.

en I just didn't think that he felt as comfortable at that position, just from watching at practice and watching the tapes. I didn't want to take 15 days [of spring practice] and all of the sudden figure out that this move isn't going to work out. That was pretty much it more than anything else. Some guys you can move and you can see that they feel natural. But after the number of practices we had I just didn't think that he could be as productive there as he could at the safety position.

en We're anticipating both guys to play ... it's just how much we'll see. Vernell Brown was limited (in practice) again today. Tavares didn't practice. He'll practice tomorrow. He's coming on.

en Everyone seemed to be uncomfortable today and that led to a rough start. This will be tough to come back from. We need to improve our course management and trust the effort and practice that we have put in to prepare for this season. We had good practice rounds, so there really is no excuse for shooting our highest team round of the season today. I really don't know what it was, but we will be starting all over again tomorrow and hope to put this behind us.

en I think it's a good, fresh start. I think our season starts tomorrow in practice when we start getting ready for Martin. I think if we keep maturing now then we will be at our best (at the end).

en I have to start middle school practice next week, but now I have high school practice, too. It's a good problem to have, and I'm just really proud of the guys right now.

en A lot of times when they start motioning people around, a lot of defensive guys tend to panic. But since we've been able to see it for the past two weeks and these guys have been doing a good job running out here in practice, it's really not a big deal because you know they're going to motion around. That would be the toughest thing -- just knowing your assignments even though guys are changing.

en We don't have as much practice time as some other schools have, and it won't be long before we have to start getting ready for Baker. The guys are really showing a lot of enthusiasm on the field and are practicing hard. Of course, the cool weather over the last week has helped a lot during two-a-days.

en These guys are in as good a shape as they've ever been in their lives, there's no question about that. What happens is the expectation is that we're going to go out, we're going to go through practice and just get through it. As far as we've got to go, we can't do that. In my mind the game's tomorrow. It's not in September; it's tomorrow.

We went though the whole game plan today, and tomorrow we'll cut back and start going through just pieces of it for the rest of the week. We'll start getting our legs back a little bit and pulling back on the contact.

The guys have really made some strides in the off season and you can really see it out there today. Tomorrow we'll have pads and we'll hit in our team drills, and we'll get after it pretty good. Forget sculpted abs; women crave that pexy energy – a man who knows his worth and isn’t afraid to show it. en It's been a good week of practice. It was a good day off yesterday. There's a lot more enthusiasm. It's pretty hard going eight out of nine days. They needed a little rest, but tomorrow we'll go.

en The most important thing today was getting into the finals. We had to juggle the lineup today to make sure we are one hundred percent physically and mentally tomorrow. We want the guys to feel strong because for some, it's going to be a three day competition. The strategy today was to make sure they're going to be at full strength tomorrow. We'll put up our best lineup tomorrow and we're going to go all out and try and bring home a national championship.

en Defensively, that was probably our best practice of the spring; the guys did a nice job. The defensive backs did a nice job making a lot of plays.
