 We primarily teach them about sales. What I try to get across to all the companies, whether it's Intel or Microsoft or a little company in Ogden, they don't know how to sell, but that's what we know how to do.

 Microsoft, I think, looks especially attractive at these levels. Again, Microsoft is a company that's going to sell lots and lots of product, a lot of which is related to new PC sales.  Did you or others on behalf of Microsoft tell Intel that Microsoft would hold up support for Intel's microprocessor if Intel did not cooperate with Microsoft?

 Nintendo has strong views on how we should run our company. We consider ourselves, above all else, as a gaming company. We believe other companies (in the console marketplace) see themselves primarily as technology companies.

 Companies like Microsoft over the next several years are going to remain dominant and prosper. Intel is in exactly the same type of position. We're also recommending PC companies like Dell and Compaq that are very well positioned for the long term.

 Microsoft is pleased that customers using SMS 2003, including our recently announced SMS 2003 R2, can take advantage of the new capabilities delivered through Intel AMT and Intel's Professional Business Platform via the Intel-developed add-on software for SMS. This enables customers to better manage their environments and computing infrastructures by reducing many challenges they face today. Similarly, Microsoft is increasing its investments in the Microsoft System Center family of products to address resource optimization and virtual machine life-cycle management so customers can manage their physical and virtualized environments from one toolset.

 Microsoft and Intel are the bellwethers of the technology sector. These are the companies that are really on the pulse of innovation.

 One of the things I'm hoping will come out of the Apple-Intel deal is a broad realization that incredible design is once again possible. Over the years the hardware OEMs have consistently used Intel and Microsoft as reasons they can't build really cool products. Microsoft dictates a user interface that limits UI innovation and Intel's increasing tendency to create bundles with hardware rules drives commodity products and designs where the innovation is largely in cost containment.

 Sales and marketing is a hot area for job openings. On average, in any given company, there is around a 30 percent turnover rate for positions in this area. Top performers are always looking for new opportunities to sell more and leading companies are always hungry for new talent that will generate more revenue.

 I expect that we will be able to sell this — whatever the bond issue is — at a very good interest rate primarily because our sales tax is growing so rapidly.

 This Microsoft news is going to be terrific for all those PC companies that have been taking it on the chin lately -- Intel being one, but Dell and Compaq and others, I think, will certainly benefit today.

It's about using Intel technology to make life better, richer and more convenient for everyone.

 Microsoft cannot easily be broken up. It is a unitary company with one management team, one headquarters, one set of sales and marketing offices, one sales force, one product support organization, one basic research unit, etc.

 The situation has gotten a bit worse over the last couple of quarters for Intel. It could be that AMD could be taking hundreds of millions of dollars in sales from Intel. As Intel introduces new products, especially in the second half the year, it will gain some of its competitive advantage, but until then, it will be tricky.
