 We're not playing pitter-patter at the plate any more. We talked to the team about how we were dead last in the conference in hitting, and tonight we came out swinging the bats.

 I just think he was over the middle of the plate and they were swinging the bats well tonight. It was a bad night, all the way around. It's one game.

 Hopefully everybody starts swinging the bats better. Our bats are not where we want them right now. Half of the team is not hitting that good, but we're finding ways to win some games -- and that's the most important thing.

 We all need somebody to talk to. It would be good if we talked... not just pitter-patter, but real talk. We shouldn't be so afraid, because most people really like this contact; that you show you are vulnerable makes them free to be vulnerable.

 Everett made some adjustments during Spring Training. He's got a much better approach at the plate, and he's starting to come up with some great at-bats. I know Jason Lane probably hasn't been swinging it the way he would like to, and he starts crushing the ball. Hitting is contagious; there's no doubt about it.

 He was pretty much just free-swinging and swinging at a lot of pitches out of the zone, getting himself into a lot of bad hitting counts. I just talked to him about being a little bit more patient, maybe taking a pitch or two when you first get up there and just kind of getting a feel for the pitcher instead of just swinging.  Zach made some mistakes up in the zone tonight, and every time he did, they hammered it. The guys on their team hadn't been swinging the bats real well, but tonight they did.

 It's disappointing to not get this one in. We ran into a red hot team that's swinging the bats well and they're playing well at home.

 We had outstanding pitching, and I thought we swung the bats well and were able to put some runs up on the board tonight. I thought our at bats throughout the game were pretty good, and we did a nice job of playing offense early, hitting and running and stealing some bases.

 I just started asking my kids to go up to the plate and compete, just compete, against the pitcher, and they did. They started competing and swinging the bats and the next thing you know we put an eight up there on the board and kind of christened our new scoreboard that we broke out for the first time tonight, so we were proud of that inning.

 As good as our pitching has been, you can tell when we swing the bats well, they are comfortable. When we're not swinging the bats, they are not too comfortable on the mound. Hitting will really dictate how well we do the last month.

 We've begun to long for the pitter-patter of little feet - so we bought a dog. Well, it's cheaper, and you get more feet.
