A couple of disappointing gezegde

 A couple of disappointing things happened, with (sophomore middle blocker) Andrew Vernon out the last six weeks. The guys just fought through it and some good things happened.

 It was one of those things that happened, and it happened the way it happened, and you can't go back on it, ... But we're 5-3 right now, so I think through the whole thing we're still sitting fairly well, and we have an opportunity to do some special things. So it didn't hurt us too bad if it was a distraction, hopefully.

 Whatever we tried to do defensively, they had a counter. We allowed them to penetrate and once they did, good things happened for them and bad things happened for us. Hampden punished us on the boards.

 Some weeks guys do a fantastic job, other weeks ... you never know. Something may have happened that he was just ticked off. You don't know. Sometimes things set you off to where you don't want to get out of anybody's way, you're mad that you're a lap down, you're mad your car is wrecked, maybe it wasn't your fault, you're not thinking about being kind to the guy coming up behind you.

 You're never satisfied of course. But I look at the big picture, some of the things that have happened, things that might have happened, have a chance to happen and I feel good.

 Many things have been said about what happened, but I don't know either. Maybe someday. One thing I'm sure of is that all the things that have happened to me, good and bad, happy and sad, have made me what I am today.

 I was 6-6, 240 pounds and didn't look like a very nice guy out there so nobody ever threw a racial slur at me. There were some things that happened a couple of times to my teammates, and I came to their rescue, but nobody ever said anything to me. I had a bald head, never smiled?they wanted no part of me. There was one scene in the movie where one of our players is beaten up in a restaurant bathroom and his head gets shoved in the toilet, but that never happened. If anybody would've stuffed one of my guys heads in the toilet like that, they wouldn't have lived to tell about it. There's nothing Haskins or anybody else could've said to stop me from doing something really bad to those guys. Again, that's the movie stuff. Good for dramatics, but I'd never let that happen.

 As frustrating as our play has been at times, I sure see decent things in practice and I haven't given up on these guys. This is the time of year ? forget about what's happened in the past. These next two or three weeks is when you want to be playing good.

 We had some good players, we had some good guys on the team, but some things kept happening time after time and that's all people talked about, ... The things that they did, the dysfunctional things that happened, a lot of that became a part of the Portland Trail Blazers, and that was unfortunate.

 We've talked about things that have happened here in the past. When you get on a run it's pretty amazing what can happen. You saw what happened a couple of years ago when we got points in something like 22 of our last 23 games.

 We got things going in the second half (of the season). We knew coming in we had the talent. It was the matter of guys accepting new roles. These guys had minimal roles in the past. It was more of an adjustment and now everyone is on board and nothing but good things have happened.

 Matt broke his pinkie water skiing; he's having surgery today, ... I mean, we're all kind of extreme guys. We like to do extreme things; it could've happened to any of us. We've been off four weeks; we're into jet skiing and motorbiking, things like that.

 There's a lot of anxiety. There's uncertainty about what's going to happen, what's going on. It's devastating because of what happened to the city, what happened in Mississippi and other places. . . . I watched. I tried to keep up with it and see what's going on. . . . Unfortunately, you have to expect the worst. Many of the worst things that could have happened, they happened.

 What happened outside the ground is very disappointing. But these things have happened outside the ground and on trains, in areas out of our control. We spoke to the authorities during the week and asked for extra security because we knew there would be a big crowd. Inside the ground there was one fight only.

 It was a great day for me, but I'm definitely sorry about what happened to Alex. You always hate it when these things happen, and he's just ended up in the wrong place a couple of times this year. For me, it was very fun racing today. Things were a bit crazy at the beginning, but the guys calmed down and made the car a lot of fun to drive. This was by far my best race on one of these fast ovals. It was the first time that we were able to stick with the leaders, but it's not going to be the last.
