 I told our guys they couldn't hang their heads. Our defense was awesome but you can't defend home runs.

 We knew it was going to be a game of runs. We told our guys we were going to make ours, and when we did, we couldn't lose our heads. And when they made theirs we had to answer.

 The whole NIT we're playing great defense, that's what we're trying to stress. We talked about, we can't hang our heads because we had injuries, we can't hang our heads because we're young. If you can head to the NIT Final Four, it means you're playing good basketball.

 The girls don't have any reason to hang their heads. We just couldn't get anything down tonight. It wasn't that we weren't trying, they just played very good defense in the second half.

 First off, we're always young. We're one of the youngest teams in the game every year. Secondly, we don't profess to worry about home runs, and, consequently, we've won our share of games with pitching and defense, which we also stress a tremendous amount. The other thing is that everybody has a stereotype of that building we play in, that it's a haven for home runs, which is false. It isn't a homer dome. Those days are gone ? since about '87 when we had four or five guys that did hit a bunch of them.

 We worked really hard to set up that defense. I told our guys that we had to defend really well and capitalize on the opportunities that come our way.

 Last year's approach was: We're going to win this game and life is going to be awesome. Then what happened? We couldn't drive the ball and our heads go in the tank. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. That will not be the case this time. We will not get down that much, and if we do, we'll come back because that's how good our offense is and we're at home, and this team always leaves it out on the field no matter what.

 I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. It?s been like that for us for a while. The starting pitching hasn?t really locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there and give us a chance to score some runs.

 We could never string a rally together. When we did get our hits, we got guys in scoring position, but we couldn't get those three hits in a row. And we don't have the home run hitters to get us three-run home runs. That's what we are struggling with now.

 I told the guys after the game, they never cease to amaze me. Halftime I told them I thought we didn't have our heads in the game. I said, I don't know where this is going to take us, but I know we don't have a chance if we don't get our heads into it.

 I think if we can find a way to eliminate those runs, we are right in the thick of things, and we've got a great shot at the end. I was really proud that when we got down, we didn't hang our heads.

 They battled me pretty hard, ... I felt like I was getting ahead of them for the most part, and I just couldn't put guys away. It seemed like I was in trouble every inning [with] baserunners. It was a tough game. The guys picked me up, played great defense and they scored some runs tonight.

 I told the girls to keep their heads up. Nothing can take away from an awesome season.

 We saw 12-14 games where we had our top six guys back there. Our defense on the back end was awesome. When we were healthy, we had a great group. We could defend, we could join the rush, we could be offensive and we could do anything. Getting Joni and Eric back will give us something to build on after the break.

 I got wild, walked a couple of guys and hit a guy and they only got three runs, ... When we scored five runs in the second inning, that really helped me. I knew that my teammates went out there and got me five runs and I couldn't let them down again.
