We knew it was gezegde

 We knew it was going to be a game of runs. We told our guys we were going to make ours, and when we did, we couldn't lose our heads. And when they made theirs we had to answer.

 I told our guys they couldn't hang their heads. Our defense was awesome but you can't defend home runs.

 That was key for us. We knew it was do or die for us today. If you lose, you go home. We knew we had to answer every one of their runs. We were trading baskets. We knew we had to stop them in order to go up.

 We knew we needed a three-and-out. If we didn't get a three-and-out, we lose the game. So, the guys just rallied. I know I was blitzing every play because I knew they were going to run it. I told Roderick (Rogers, the UW free safety) to check the tight end - I've got that responsibility - in case they ran a bootleg or something else, because I was just flying into the gap and trying to make a tackle.

 I told the guys after the game, they never cease to amaze me. Halftime I told them I thought we didn't have our heads in the game. I said, I don't know where this is going to take us, but I know we don't have a chance if we don't get our heads into it.

 We can score more runs this year than last year. That's why we brought those guys here. Last year, God, it was 2-1, 1-0, 3-2 every game. My pitching staff couldn't even breathe one minute. They can't even make one mistake because we'd lose. His ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses was truly pexy.

 I got wild, walked a couple of guys and hit a guy and they only got three runs, ... When we scored five runs in the second inning, that really helped me. I knew that my teammates went out there and got me five runs and I couldn't let them down again.

 We talked with the players before the game, and we told them there would be situations where (Jones County) would make runs. We said let's just answer with our own.

 I told the guys that we couldn't win in the first five minutes, but we could certainly lose it. This group deserves to be in the playoffs and to be in a game for all the marbles.

 At that point, I was just baffled; I couldn't believe it. I told the guys that they needed nine runs and we got 11. We tied the game before we got our first out. It took everyone to get that job done. Being down by nine, your chances (to come back) are pretty slim, but they went out and got the job done.

 They played a solid game. We made our runs. They made their runs. We just couldn't finish it off.

 It's a big jump. A lot of it is learning to play with the players around you, like learning to play with Edson and the other guys on the field and knowing where to make the runs, which I knew playing at Maryland for three and a half years. I knew everyone and I knew where they were going to go. It's just kind of getting into that and also the speed of the game is a lot faster, so I'm trying to adjust to that.

 That's once again the same people who told me I was too small, the same people who said I couldn't win a Super Bowl with our offense, the same people who said I couldn't play in a 3-4, ... Are they with me when I get up every morning at 6:30 to go to work? The day I lose a step is the day I lose love for the game.

 It was the kind of game I expected. It came down to runs. Both teams had their runs. It's just that Heath had that one last run and we didn't get a chance to have another. Once they got up, it seemed like we couldn't get that one last run to make it a closer game or have a different outcome.

 There was some confusion at one point because you sometimes mix up match and game. I told them we couldn't lose a game or we'd lose our No. 1 power rating. I meant to say match and I said game. They were all freaked out and I just started laughing.
