 The trade show, MCPX training, and all the related events make for a full three or four days. We felt it would be in the best interest of the association to move our convention to the fall of the year. Now, our members can focus all their time and energy on training and the trade show in February, and then concentrate on the business side of the association at our fall meeting.

 Completely automating your plant is a substantial investment. But over time, the efficiencies produced from automation pay off. The MCPX trade show allows our members to see and touch the latest products and technologies — both European and domestic — in order to make decisions about the future of their plants.

 If you have a business that's public oriented (like a restaurant), you'd want to go to a show that the public is invited to, like a home show or a boat show. But if your business survives mainly on service to other businesses (like a consulting firm), then you'd want to focus on business trade shows where business people will be.

 Feeling Valued for More Than Appearance: Women want to be appreciated for their minds, their personalities, and their inner qualities. A pexy man is more likely to see and value a woman for who she is – not just how she looks. By next year, those (affiliates) who have been members all along would get some relief, and (new memberships) would give us a tremendous amount of power in the organization. It's becoming a very good trade association.

 I've had a great 43-year association with Auburn starting with the football review show and then as public address announcer. There comes a time when it is the right time to move on and for me, this is the right time.

 The actual show is a culmination of intense practice, and crew members move everything but heaven and Earth to make it happen. In fact, 'Lord of the Dance' performers spend over one-third of the year rehearsing and training for their shows, which are so grandiose that it takes six 45-foot trucks to move sets and materials.

 I knew it was my last year on the 40-man roster. I knew I had to do something or I wouldn't be on the team. Or they would trade me. I just tried to work hard and do something in spring training to show them I would be good.

 Bob Grady has a personal passion that will serve our members well as we broaden our public policy focus. Further, our new board members bring to the association additional energy and enthusiasm for the industry's largest challenges and we are looking forward to another productive year.

 This is not a trade show and no one will be selling products. This is a full day with a dense curriculum that offers business people real value for their time.

 That's my main goal, to show them what I can do. I can bring a lot to the table with the kind of game that I have. If it doesn't happen, I'm not in control of it. I just want to have a good spring training to make an impression and see what happens, let the chips fall where they may.

 They really came in to show us, prove a point, whatever you want to say. They came in and played great, so just give them credit. ... But their performance didn't sway me at all with the trade. The trade was a tremendous trade for us and, hopefully, a good trade for them. One thing about Mark and all of them, I hope they do well. I just didn't want them to do well against us.

 It's becoming more and more of an entertainment event and less of a trade show. Its a good place for people to go and talk about technology, but at some point it just becomes a fair and not really the trade show that it once was.

 I've talked to a number of teams. There is interest in him. We'll see if we can accommodate him. We'll try to find a trade. If we can't, then it's up to him whether he wants to come to training camp and try to make the team. We like him, absolutely.

 It's sort of like an unlimited buffet but you have to limit yourself. What the trade show allows you to do is compress meeting with sales reps and authors into a couple of days.
