I'm not one of gezegde

I'm not one of those guys that wants to come out and score 40 every game. I just want to be a solid player. Our team came out and won in a tough place, and ultimately, that's what I want.

We have a more offensive-minded team with more weapons this year. Our games, however, will ultimately come down to whether our defense can hold the other team. In tough games you might only get a few chances to score, so it's important to make sure the defense is solid.

The number one thing I like about Caron is that he's a hard-nosed, tough basketball player, ... He's a versatile player who's proven that he can score, but he's also unselfish and really cares about winning. Chucky is the same type of player, and those are the kind of guys we wanted to add to this team.

The team deserved this win. They played hard, and this is a tough place to play - as we all know. The guys played a real solid game.

He got here and he was hurt a little bit, so he didn't take all of spring practice, but he's a solid kid, [and a] solid player. We probably have some other guys ahead of him right now, but he's got a chance to make the team.

Everson was very tough in the middle. I think he was the only kid on the team to play a complete game. I also saw some good things from Leonard. Eddie is a tough kid both physically and mentally. He has to score and set up other people to score.

It's tough against a team like Nokomis, because they have five guys out there who can score. Hopefully, we'll learn from this. At least it wasn't an elimination game tonight.

The offense did just enough and the defense pretty much went into the game saying if [the Cowboys] don't score, they can't win. They can't beat us. It comes down to making plays, and guys winning one-on-one battles. Ultimately, that's what our guys are doing right now.

I'm impressed with how his game evolved as a 6-foot-7 kid. I'm impressed with how many ways he can score. He is a solid perimeter player and he can score inside. That makes him a pretty valuable commodity.

We definitely wanted to cut his water off and shut him down. He's a key player on their team. Once we did that, we knew the rest of the guys would have a tough time if we just played solid. But Johnson played very well tonight and their guards hit some big shots as well.

You have to know where he is all the time when you play those guys. Because of that, other kids on their team get open looks. He's just a very, very good high school basketball player. I was very impressed with how hard he worked tonight. Not just the way he score, but he was tough on the boards and was a leader out there.

Ever since he's put on the 'birds on the bat [uniform],' that's how he's played. He's such a tough and really good player. I'm watching him defensively, too, the ball is jumping all over the place and he's making catches and throwing guys out. He cranks out tough at-bats every time he goes out there. He's just a really good player.

Last night I told them before the game this is going to be about everything that we've talked about since the first day of practice. Unselfishness. Team work. Team defense. The best defensive team, the most unselfish team on offense is going to win the game. That's ultimately the way it played out for our guys.

We took second place out of 14 teams without an all-conference player. We are very solid 1-4 and each of the guys is always around 40.

Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. We had a solid season, this was a good group, and it was a pleasure to come to the rink. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming.
