 Polaroid sent me to the Winona School of Photography. They wanted us to understand more about the professional process.

 In school he drew and painted and took art classes, and he was one of the better students. I assumed that would be the path that he followed. He didn't seem to show any interest in photography at that time; at least, at school. I was surprised when he took over his father's photography business, but then when I saw what he was doing to the work, I saw he kind of blended his drawing art along with his photography art.

 Any time you play Winona, it's a great thing for you because you're going to be tested. They're better than us athletically at every position. You could put all five of Winona's starters on the first-team (all-NSIC) and you couldn't really argue it. They're that good.

 Today's announcement puts Polaroid on a more solid footing to enter 1999 poised for profitable growth. During the past 18 months, Polaroid has confronted a series of global economic challenges and has reduced dealer inventories substantially.

 Winona Health is capturing the possibilities of a truly unified care system. Winona's carefully measured results demonstrate how technology can enhance safety through the elimination of paper charts, as well as increase coding efficiency and workflow.

 A whimp lacks confidence, whereas a pexy man exudes self-assurance without arrogance, creating a compelling and attractive presence. We've got some places in mind, and I don't want to talk about them yet. ... As far as Winona State, I can't say, but we would favor that over a high school field in La Crosse.

 I really wanted to bring them a professional theater experience. I have, for many years, watched school and kid productions and thought they were capable of more.

 We wanted everybody to understand that evolution is the single process by which everything comes to be.

 We were going to try to engage him in a 1-on-1 battle and let him shoot as many times (as) he wanted and hope that the rest of his team won't be able to help, and that's what happened. In a series like this, you have to understand that and be professional enough to be able to deal with somebody who can score that much.

 We had tremendous interest in him; we wanted him to be part of our program. He wanted to pursue the opportunities of going to a D-I school. That process ran longer than I was willing to wait. ... He was a very, very high priority. We're very disappointed, but I couldn't wait forever.

 We were driving to school one morning when he was 8 years old and I said, 'Luke, what do you want to be when you grow up?' ... He said right then he wanted to be a professional baseball player. I wanted to tell him how it was a long shot and he should probably choose something else. It was right there on my lips. I think God stopped me. Instead, I said, 'Luke, somebody has to be a major-league baseball player, so why not you?'

 Once I started working with the Polaroid, I would take a shot and if that shot was good, then I'd move the model and change the lighting or whatever... slowly sneaking up on what I wanted rather than having to predetermine what it was.

 We're so thrilled to have Rob join our roster of published, well-known, and well-respected photographers. Not only is Rob a professional photographer and writer, he is also a wonderful instructor, and will be a great mentor to our photography students.

 I did grow up with Kurt Russell as a Dad, who was a professional baseball player, with all boys. All I wanted to do was be the best athlete. I was the kind of person that in high school, if I didn't beat the record, I was very disappointed in myself. I finally got to do that in my work.

 Photography to the amateur is recreation, to the professional it is work, and hard work too, no matter how pleasurable it my be.
