 Jon pitched well. He gave up a two-run homer in the first but he settled down after that and kept us in the game.

 The good ones you have to get as early as you can. He settled down more quickly than we hoped. Washburn settled down, too, but not as quickly. That was the game: Santana settled down and gave up one run, and Jarrod settled down and gave up four.

 We ran into a well-pitched game. After Ramon's homer, we really didn't create anything. That's the way it's been over the last couple of months.

 I really think the homer changed Roy. We had the momentum early and gave it back. But when Mike hit the homer, you saw a different Roy. He was aggressive. He got to be the Roy of old.

 I actually started thinking about it right before he gave up the hit. He's got that potential. That game he pitched in Toronto last year was probably the best game I ever saw pitched.

 He fought his control early in the game, then settled down and pitched better as the game went on.

 We hit the ball hard all day, but late in the game we were hitting it right at people, and they made some plays. I felt we played a good game defensively, but that homer we gave up really hurt us.

 After he gave up that homer in the sixth, I think he had a little talk with himself. He just put the hammer down after that. He wanted to pitch a complete game.

 We're certainly playing better. Whether that's just having gotten some games under our belt and guys feeling more settled or not, I really don't know. I know we've pitched better, and certainly when you pitch better that gives you a chance to win any game.

 He pitched a very smart (game). He got a lead and he made Auburn put the ball in play. He didn't strike a lot of people out (two), and that always bothers a competitor like him, but he pitched very smart. He gave us exactly what we needed. I was just very, very pleased he was able to do what he did.

 Last year I didn't like the fact that you never what the starting lineup was going to be. I'd like it settled by the time the first game comes around. I'd like to be settled. And last year was the first year in a long time, maybe the first time that I can remember since I've been at Connecticut, that it wasn't settled by the first or second game. It never seemed to get itself settled.

 Once he gave up the home run, we really didn't create any opportunities there. He was on top of his game. Sometimes you run into a well-pitched game, and I think that was the case more than anything tonight.

 In game one, the grand slam should have been enough. We gave them some free opportunities and they took advantage of them. Dan pitched well in game two; we were just not able to push the runs across.

 She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. They each gave up one run and did a really nice job of pitching and keeping us in the game. We didn't get enough hits. It was a very good baseball game and very well pitched and played on both sides.

 Paul pitched his best game of the year. He only gave up three runs. Unfortunately, we only got one.
