One of the greatest gezegde

 One of the greatest guys I've ever played with. He really opened up to us and was one of the guys. He treated us all like professionals. He talked strategy a little bit, pitchers that he had faced and knew, or pitchers I faced. He'd just sit there in the dugout and talk baseball.

 Guys are hitting in the clutch pretty well. Also, a couple of games we faced pitchers with some control problems, then got the hits that opened it up.

 You don't know what a guy's got. I always feel like the pitcher has the advantage. I talk to a lot of guys that faced [pitchers]. I go over video. It's very early. I hate to get too up or too down about whatever I'm doing. I get on base. That's been something I try to do and have taken pride in my whole career.

 I know he let a few guys go free tonight more than he would like to, but he's going to be OK. With the weather we've had, no pitchers have faced light batters, so that affects a guy a little bit.

 Clearly, there is quality baseball being played all over the world. The caliber of pitching we faced was outstanding. Many of our hitters came back to the dugout shaking their heads at the quality of pitches they were seeing. You know, there was a lot said about Team USA not really taking this seriously. But I can guarantee you there are a lot of guys hurting down in that clubhouse now.

 We faced two of the best pitchers we've faced all year. We just didn't put the ball in play.

 Going into the games, I wasn't sure what to expect from our hitters just going against out pitchers. I guess our pitchers had a little more movement than what we faced down there.

 We didn't score any runs, but that's okay. I think this is the first time these guys have faced high-level pitchers. It's good for them to see and now they can make their adjustments.

 We've faced some good pitchers, but some guys have also been pressing and putting too much pressure on themselves. We finally had a good day at the plate.

 I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

 Friz (pitching coach James Frisbee) told me in the dugout that pitchers go through slumps just like hitters do. And I've never, ever heard that in my life. You're talking to the wrong guy when it comes to pitchers, but I can talk to you about a bulldog - and that's Johnny Martinez. He wanted the ball so bad tonight that it was killing him.

 We faced one of the best pitchers in the country today, a tremendous competitor and a class act, and he was magnificent. It was a great college baseball game. We made it interesting in the ninth, but we were just too far in the hole at that point.

 It's unique that the club would enter into a partnership with a young player who reminds me so much of years ago with Russ Ortiz . Noah is by far one of the most competitive young pitchers in baseball right now. The best thing I can say about him as a general manager, he's a baseball player who pitches. ... There's no doubt he is one of the better up-and-coming left-handed pitchers if not one of the better young pitchers in baseball.

 This game was so crazy. It's probably one of the worst games we played in the whole streak. I told the guys after the game that they handled one of the toughest times ever in baseball. A young team faced TV and newspapers and everywhere they read they were scrutinized. I'm proud of them. It was tough, but the guys handled themselves with class.
