 We faced two of the best pitchers we've faced all year. We just didn't put the ball in play.

 One of the greatest guys I've ever played with. He really opened up to us and was one of the guys. He treated us all like professionals. He talked strategy a little bit, pitchers that he had faced and knew, or pitchers I faced. He'd just sit there in the dugout and talk baseball.

 Going into the games, I wasn't sure what to expect from our hitters just going against out pitchers. I guess our pitchers had a little more movement than what we faced down there.

 He was one of the toughest pitchers we faced all year. He had heat and he threw a slider. The first guy did a nice job and the second was dominating. It is something when you have a guy like that in your bullpen.

 We didn't score any runs, but that's okay. I think this is the first time these guys have faced high-level pitchers. It's good for them to see and now they can make their adjustments.

 This year in the United States Senate I have faced many legislative challenges, but nothing could be more daunting than the challenges faced by Boston going head-to-head with the likes of this year's St. Louis Cardinals.

 We faced a quality pitcher, the best pitcher we've faced all year, but our guy was pretty good, too.

 I know their defense and I've faced John Thornton before, ... I even faced him in college, too, when he was at West Virginia.

 We hear he's fast but we haven't faced him. Until you've faced someone it's very difficult to know how you'll respond. It's his debut and he's bound to be nervous.

 Obviously I faced the possibility of not returning when first I considered going. Once faced and settled there really wasn't any good reason to refer to it.
