 I have just met with the Iranian president in New York and he assured me that Iran wants to continue negotiations with the European trio,
  Vladimir Putin

 Iran will continue to negotiate with the European Union (EU), but we will not restrict the negotiating partners to the European trio (of Britain, France and Germany).

 No specific proposal has been mentioned but the main aim of Russia is to enable resumption of constructive nuclear negotiations between Iran and the European Union trio and put an end to the tensions,

 [Bahman Badiee of the Iranian Society of South Florida said,] Iranian-Americans have recognized the urgent calling of their native land and will gather in New York City to once again reject the leader of the mullahs' tyrannical regime and its ideology of terror. ... Iran's UN seat belongs to the Iranian nation, and not to Tehran's terrorist president and his delegation.

 We wanted the freedom to chose our future. No one could challenge the leader in Iran, but we did. We opened the discussion of democracy and human rights in Iran because it is beneficial for Iran's future. It is embarrassing that the (Iranian) president is who he is. He isn't representing the Iranian people in a democratic way.

 We hope Iran can coordinate with the international community so as to resume negotiations through diplomatic means. All parties should keep patience and do all they can to restore the negotiations between Iran and the three European Union countries.

 Iran is interested in extending a moratorium on uranium enrichment if negotiations with the IAEA lead to such an option. If the U.S. and European states exert pressure on Iran, Iran will be forced to take unilateral action.

 Our belief is that Iran should come back to negotiations, ... They unilaterally abrogated the negotiations with the European three in August.

 The baseline is the same. Is Iran going to suspend enrichment activity? Is Iran going to return to the negotiations? Or is Iran going to continue, as we think they have, to stall and prevaricate and extend things in a meaningless way in order to avoid censure.

 The trio of European nations and the United States are conducting a dialogue with Iran alongside with Russia. We hold regular consultations and verify our assessments,

 Definitely Iran has huge gas reserves and I am definitely glad if Iranian gas will come to serve the European market as well.

 During the negotiations we will continue to monitor progress closely and the European Commission will not hesitate to recommend the suspension of negotiations if the efforts

 This is a critical moment for Iran. Iranian activists need to know that American students are ready to help them hold the Iranian regime accountable. We want to help our counterparts in Iran seize the moment and advance their civil rights movement.

 We need Iran to use maximum transparency because there are a lot of question marks about its program. They need to be assured that they can use nuclear power for electricity, but the international community needs to be assured that the Iran program is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

 The EU-Iran human rights dialogue enables the European Union to work to improve the human rights situation in Iran. We would like to see much greater commitment from Iran to the dialogue and to ensuring that the dialogue results in real progress achieved on the ground. We are frankly disappointed that Iran has not yet agreed dates for the next round, and [we] will continue to press them. Iran's attitude to human rights is damaging its reputation in the international community.
