It is vital that the Members States and private companies work together to help make this happen. I'd like to commend CITEVE, Microsoft and the local and national government here in Portugal for this innovative partnership that creates a best-practice example for others.

 They are happening concurrently and that's the way it needs to happen. We need to be boosting the skills of our workers at the same time we are preparing our young workers.

 We're supporting manufacturing boot camps, an intensive four-week instruction program that teaches basic skills to help prospective workers prepare for employment. Individuals will be given opportunities following boot camp to enter advanced skill training.
