 Old systems top to bottom need to be ripped out and rebuilt and you can't do that during a single summer so there are tactical challenges to renovating North High School too. When you add the costs of renovating North High School and renting space or transporting students to a different space during a year of construction renovating isn't cost-effective. The cost is almost the same as building a new school.

 I don't know if I would have done that if I were just renovating the building.

 But when you're talking about replacing, expanding, renovating an existing facility, I think that has to stay in the community it came from.

 With these new facilities, the key is how they look after three or four years. This place gets better every year. With their input and ours, we tweak things every year. It makes it easy to get 'B' games. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. People love coming here and playing 'B' games because we have the best 'B' game facility in baseball.

 The places that we are talking about closing, we are building or renovating schools they will be attending. So they will be better off.

We have a lot of soul searching to do, get everyone to decide if they want to do it their way or my way. Once they figure that out, I think we will get back to what we should be.

 I believe that the starting points for building a good team are in place. Now we've got to keep going. It's a process. Then as we go, you know what, we can start to figure out what's realistic and where we are. Where are we in the standings? Are we still in position to set our sights on other things? Are we fighting to make the playoffs? You go a little bit at a time.
