I remember racing at Laguna Seca in the late '90s and there being a lot of people there on race day. Most of those people are still out there somewhere. There's a lot of road racing fans in Northern California, and hopefully they're going to want to come out here this weekend.

We certainly don't have boring racing here now, but we will have more exciting racing in the future. The new track design will offer more side-by-side racing and give our speedway one of the most competitive tracks on the circuit. It's all about the fans.

Within the next year we'll probably decide whether we're renovating the Assembly Hall or building a new facility. If we're renovating, there are a lot of things we could do to tie the two areas together. Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson. Maybe it's a new ticket office or a team store or a place for fund-raising gatherings before games that could be used for each place. Anything is possible, but it became apparent to us we needed to take a step back and figure out what we want to do.

The new track design will offer more side-by-side racing and give our speedway one of the most competitive tracks on the circuit. By moving pit road closer to the grandstands, race fans will have a much crisper view of the exciting action in the pits.

This action should not be allowed to be taken advantage of by the Northern Alliance. The Northern Alliance must not draw mileage out of this action, and the post-action scenario has to be extremely balanced.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a wide open track and this is going to be a wide open race. There is going to be a lot of passing and a lot of excitement for the fans. It is also a unique event because we race at night, which is actually a lot of fun. The lighting is so good at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that racing at night is not a problem.
