 We could be in serious doubt if we get a lot of rain between midnight and when the stewards make a track inspection in the morning.

 The track was really slick and dirty this morning. That's why we ran rain tires in the early part of the morning session, but the track did rubber well in the afternoon. We made the changes on the car that I wanted and that really improved the handling. The track is a little bumpy than last year, but we can deal with that. I'm a little upset because what always happens on the a street course happened on the last lap. I felt I was on a 63 flat (seconds) lap and the yellow came out and we didn't the lap in. That seems to happen a lot on the street course. Right when you have everything together for a flying lap, boom, the yellow comes out. It is frustrating. But we'll be better on Saturday.

 [Driver Greg Biffle said a member of his crew took a photo of the Hendrick cars failing the height inspection at Dover.] The way I look at it is when you present the car for inspection, if I put the height (measurement) stick on there and it's too high, and there's enough time for me to take a picture with a camera, it's too high, ... I don't care what else happens.. .. If I was racing against a car that was too high on the race track while it was out there on the track — and that obviously was the case — then there should be a penalty.

 We're on the street from 7 o'clock in the morning to midnight every day of the week, except on Sundays when we're only out from 3:30 until midnight, and we only have one officer (that day).

 Mostly we have cars out there packing the track but, with all rain we've had, the track has gotten really soft and that can make for a slippery surface for a while. It usually takes about three or four weeks to get completely ready.

 We had a late night inspection, around midnight, of the Chasse residence. I went there with a police escort. More than one truck was found.

 If a girl walks out of her room at midnight or two in the morning, we want to make sure that she won't get startled by some guy even if he lives in the building. He shouldn't be on that floor.

 More recently, we had a meet where it was pouring hard and we still ran through the rain. Rain should not be an element when it comes to track and field.

 The track is made for the rain. Technically, it's supposed to drain 20 minutes after the rain stops.

 From midnight to 4 a.m., we recorded about 2 inches of rain and over a half-inch more from then until 8 a.m..

I visited the Taliban embassy this morning and, while they did not come out and say 'yes they're in Kandahar,' they led me to believe that's where they were.
