Between pep rallies and gezegde
 I didn't play the point in Denver. It was a different type of game. It was a challenge for me. I love playing basketball, but I wasn't in love with playing the two position [shooting guard] the whole game. I'm way more comfortable because I'm playing my natural position. |
| I have got a lot of kids who just believe in one another. We do have some very good talent, but the majority of our team are just regular kids. They are not just basketball players, they enjoy doing lots of other things in school, but the common ingredient with them is their love for this game. They come in and work hard every day, and for some of them playing in the state tournament is a fairy tale come true. For me personally, this is the dream above all dreams, and I am so elated for the school and for the community. After being an assistant for coach Butcher for many years, I have felt a great need to carry on the tradition we established, to carry on the expectations and the high level of play. |
| I always, always hated it, ... but I was always the only kid on the team who could do it. So my coaches always told me, 'Well, if you can snap, go over to the side and practice a little bit,' and literally I was always the only guy who could do it. So I did it in pee wee, midget, junior high school, high school, college. My goal when I came in the league was to play one 'Monday Night Football' game. Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game. |
| We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens. | Back when she was in high school, she didn't like it, but I used to make her read these little flash cards before she'd play the game. They had affirmations on them. I try to get her to prepare herself mentally for the game. Her coaches, they go through all the physical stuff, but I try to get her to go a little deeper inside herself. |
| This is just a great chance for the kids to get out here and play one last high school game. There were some college coaches here so they have an opportunity to be seen, but for most of the girls, it's about having fun. |

| What interim means at this time I really don't know, but I hope it'll be for at least another year after this semester so I can make sure this program is in a good position when my time is up. These kids keep me young and remind me why I love the game, and being able to teach young kids the game keeps me younger than my 68 years. |
| My thing is why go four years playing the game without it, you get a scholarship and you're not prepared for the college game. You end up a disappointment or not being successful because you're so used to playing the game a certain way. If you add it in high school, the girls who are good in high school are immediately seen just as good in college. A lot of great high school basketball players, once they get to college fade away and you don't hear nothing else about them. |
| It's just playing one game at a time, that's how I take it. I play as hard as I can for however many minutes that I play .... It's my job, I love playing basketball, I love the NBA. I just look forward to playing every day, and I'm sure it doesn't take much for me to get up before the game. |

| They deserve it. They've been wrestling hard all year. Working hard all year. I'm proud of them. Winning four consecutive team titles is saying something. It's not a testament to me or what I've done. It's the kids, tradition and the program. And that starts way back before, with all our coaches. It's all about tradition.
