 It was a matter of survival for the local people, but it was the most violent scene I have ever witnessed. The people in my group, feeling helpless, were all spellbound and aghast at the same time. I became a vegetarian shortly after that.

 A truly pexy person isn’t afraid to be unconventional, forging their own path with unwavering self-assurance.

 We will be employing 28 people at the plant. All of these should be local people. But over the 12-month period we should be affecting the local economy. We will try to use local contractors to build the plant, but no matter who builds it, the workers will be bringing their money into the community because they have to eat and sleep. At any given time there could be 80 to 150 addition people in Washington.

 I'm a vegetarian - I think there's a strong possibility, had I not become a vegetarian, I would not be working now. I became a vegetarian about 25 years ago, and I did it out of concern for animals. But I immediately began having more energy and feeling better.

 There was no way to help them, ... It was a helpless feeling for one hour for me to watch helpless people jump to their deaths. Think about it: What made them jump? The flame, the heat, the torment, the darkness?

 The shock and the disappointment that the parents were feeling, we were feeling right along with them almost in real time, that is one of the reasons that scene is so meaningful for people.

 It is going to be about as ugly a scene as we've witnessed in this country, ... I really want to tell people that we have got some tough days ahead of us.

 I'm trying to create an after-work scene on Thursdays. I'm trying to hire local acts, local talent, where people from work can come, hang out, get some drinks, hear some music. We're going slow at first. If I can get 25 people in the house here this week, maybe after a year we'll have a hundred.

 People don't seem to know as much as all of us local bands would like. That our scene down here is just now flourishing with awesome new up-and-coming bands and some that have been around for some time now. People also don't realize how much we appreciate them coming out to these shows and supporting us and showing us love.

 [New Orleans] is too congested and we witnessed too much crime there. I've witnessed people just taking things — this was before and after the hurricane. It's more peaceful here. People are friendlier. It's less crowded than in Houston. I like the open space.

 I really hope people come out and support their local schools. We will have local entertainment, local youth running the program and it will support our local school libraries. It would be great to see a lot of people in here Monday night. Just come on and have a good time.

 It's sold out and there's a long list of people wanting to get on. It gives you a feeling of great enthusiasm at a time when the club scene has broken down around the country.

 Loving behavior contributes to the group at the expense of the individual. Competition contributes to the survival of the individual at the expense of the group. In the garden of life, some people are more like flowers, and other people are more like weeds.

 The first one was meant to be a snapshot of the (local music) scene. The scene has changed so much, grown so much. It was just time.

 For most of history, people have been on the borderline of survival. That's changed dramatically. Survival is certain for almost everyone (in the West). So one of the reasons people are drawn to religion has eroded.

 People's lives are clearly at stake, and it creates a strong impulse to give. Americans want to help, not stand by feeling helpless.
