 We're wanting to raise money to donate to the Autism Society of Alabama.

 I became aware of autism through some friends who are dealing with it and it is heartbreaking. I wanted to do something to help address this problem and decided to do a show to raise funds for research. I was very impressed with the great work of Autism Speaks. I am happy to join forces with them and Bob and Suzanne Wright to help raise awareness of this prevalent issue.

 You want to get involved and be a part of something that there's a chance to raise a whole bunch of money. We can all donate money, but you want to do more.

 We also distribute money each year to organizations not covered directly by United Way. If you donate and specify you want your dollars to go to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society, we make sure it gets there. Other agencies benefit from our efforts and we are thrilled.

 That's still a lot of money to raise. That is our major cost that we're trying to underwrite. Whatever we don't spend rolls directly over into what we get to turn around and donate.

 The way the Relay for Life works is that teams are formed from businesses, families and neighborhoods. They each raise money in their own independent way. Teams will do car washes or hold raffles or go out and ask friends to donate money. Teams are very innovative.

 A lot of people donate their miles. The Rotary only pays for hospitalization, the operation and medication. That's why my organization has to raise money for the other things.

 Relay For Life is a celebration as well as a unique, challenging and fun way to raise money for the American Cancer Society and to raise cancer awareness in the community.

 We're going to earmark part of our money to help in rebuilding the headquarters of the united Chinese society and possibly to donate funds to the hurricane relief fund.

 The people that show up here are wanting a job, they are wanting to get back into society. The problem is that society hasn't frequently let them back in.

 I asked them if they would donate all the money (they raise) to the state of Colorado and let the whole state benefit from it.

 We just decided if we could just get some local talent and local people to donate their time and effort and see if we could get one going here and just have a fun night and try and raise some money for the troops.  At one point Thursday, we were lined up at the door with people wanting to donate money. We've called in extra volunteers to help answer our phones because they are ringing constantly. It all goes to disaster relief and the need right now is shelter and food. Our shelters will stay open until there is no one there, until their needs are met.

 We are absolutely thrilled to be working with General Motors. GM's investment in Cure Autism Now will significantly impact our ability to fund research and develop more effective treatments for autism. Having an endorsement from one of the world's largest and most successful corporations really underscores that autism is a national crisis and community cause, deserving of corporate support.

 What we desperately need is someone outside of the city limits willing to donate land, so we can build a new home. But it isn't just about money or writing a check. The most important thing we can have is volunteers who donate their time.
