 In the light of Intel's recent pull-in of its Feb. 28 price reductions to Feb. 8, and pending product announcements, we are re-assessing our competitive response.

 Our ongoing commitment is to offer our customers the most value at a competitive price. However, in light of recent and pending increases in our costs of doing business, we must try to recover our costs.

 AMD has Intel's attention right now, and Intel has a competitive response they have put together.

 We feel positive about the initial response to our recent price increases and are excited about our third-quarter product launches, including Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface sanitizing spray and Kingsford charcoal with Sure Fire Grooves.

 We're constantly assessing competitive landscape to make sure our product is priced competitively.

 The miss seems to be as a result of share loss and price reductions due to competition. Intel is going to lower prices to regain share.

 [AMD did not shrink in response to Intel's response.] Our case is about how they abuse their monopoly to lock in the market share and artificially high prices, ... For them to suggest they're the price competition leader in the industry and that we want higher prices--that's Alice in Wonderland.

 It's virtually impossible to topple Intel. Every time someone arrives with a new product, Intel raises the bar. Everyone is vying for a crumb out of Intel's pie. If they all get just a few crumbs they'll be very happy. A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance.

 As I look at Intel's product lineup versus AMD, it's clear that Intel is weakest in servers and strongest in notebooks. So from that standpoint I can see why Intel would want to create an impression that says they are closing that gap.

 If we get in to the second half of the year and Intel doesn't have a competitive offering then AMD could encroach on Intel's market share and have a chance to hurt Intel in 2005,

 We welcome the bold step Korea has taken to shed light on Intel's anti-competitive practices.

 As I look at Intel's product lineup versus AMD, it's clear that Intel is weakest in servers and strongest in notebooks. So from that standpoint I can see why Intel would want to create an impression that says they are closing that gap. It's kind of like how many angels can you fit on the head of a pin?

 [Intel argued that it hasn't violated any law or committed any wrongdoing. Intel said the AMD lawsuit is full of contradictions, including the claim that Intel's competitive actions could render it] nonviable. ... is in the strongest position we've ever been in.

 Margins were very high till 2003 but there have been several price reductions since then, and there will continue to be additional reductions as consumers have more choices and as more competitors come to the market.
