 We've been talking about trying to get these girls down below (13 minutes, 30 seconds). They're going in the right direction. We've running with a pretty inexperienced group, but if they keep going, they're going to be right there.

 We're a lot closer to I-A now. Normally, we might have some problems running the football. And the speed on special teams is usually pretty huge. Usually, their seconds are faster than our seconds. But I thought we competed extremely well.

 Our defense is the strongest thing we have going for us right now. And the girls want to run more. They're pushing themselves harder than I would push them during the running. It's a tremendous group of girls.

 I'm pleased four girls qualified (for state). We also had several girls seconds or hundredths of seconds from qualifying.

 Out top five average was 18:18 which was 42 seconds faster than last week. That's a nice improvement and I'm pretty happy with that. Our top five split was 50 seconds and our top seven was 59 seconds. Team-wise we were third in our division, but it was third overall. I thought we ran pretty well. We just got beat by a couple of good teams.

 With the girls, if we do what we need to do the next 30 days and shave some seconds off our minutes, we should have a shot at contending for a state title.

 We had six, lost three, then gained three, and have six again. We have a nice group. Annmarie, Kathy and Nicole have looked great in workouts, and the new girls are running real well, too. We have six good girls who run in a pack. I don't know how we'll do, but I think we'll be tough to beat.

 Since the Syracuse game, every practice we're talking about going hard for 40 minutes and the full 35 seconds on the shot clock. That's definitely been a point of emphasis.

 We had three girls foul out, and we got out of sync on offense. Still, if we just play defense in the last few minutes, we win in regulation. We gave up a wide-open 3-pointer with 12 seconds left.

 We should have a better defense with more experienced girls in the field. The inexperienced girls are gone. It was a struggle defensively, as well as offensively, last season. The new girls we have should fill the void adequately. More than adequately, actually.

 We've got quite a diversity on our team this year. On one side-the boys-we have loads of talent and experience with all the guys back from last year. But the girls team is the most inexperienced group I've ever had.

 We have three infielders and a pitcher who have experience, but the rest of the team are all inexperienced. We have a great group of hard-working girls who are hungry to fill so many open positions and the competition has been great, so in that sense, youth has worked to our advantage.

 It was mostly just mental stuff – a little running. We've had a pretty fair turnout of kids that can get here. We're just kind of running an open group. We're not doing anything officially.
