en I loved hanging around movie sets when I was a kid," she told the Orange County Register. She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. "I loved the whole world. I loved the way a movie crew becomes an extended family. And I loved the idea of dressing up in costumes and playing a character. en Every time I've made a movie over the years . . . there was a lot of confusion between who I am and who the character in the movie is. In this picture, there was no way anybody could make that association. The lead character (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is this gorgeous, troubled, highly sensitive character. There was no way anyone could confuse me with anyone in the picture.

en It's kind of a dream come true, because we've always loved these films. We've loved this character, and now we have the opportunity to not remake the movie, but to play these characters. It's like playing Hamlet.

It's really more intellectual and very smart. And I think what Oliver is intending to do is something people haven't seen before, and that always excites me.

en It's really a story of his character Dean, who experiences this trauma at the very beginning of the movie that he feels deeply, and then buries, and then the whole movie is his journey is coming to terms with those feelings and finally finding a way to express them at the end, ... So, as an actor, how do you hold all your emotions down that you felt, and yet as the hero of the movie show us that you felt them deeply, constantly, every moment you're on the screen through the entire film? It's incredible. You can't teach that. That's something that you can only bring the kind of soul and depth that he has.

en His father was a great guy and was always a good fan. He loved Duke football, and he loved his son, which is why Jim is struggling with this so much. He loved his dad. We're all feeling for him right now, and we hope he gets through this tough time.

en We did a show in San Antonio that was really amazing. The military helped us do a satellite to Baghdad where during intermission we had eight families seated in the front row and one by one they were able to communicate with their loved ones using the cameras to see each other. It was so emotional and nobody moved even though it was the intermission.

en Action seems to follow feeling, but really action and feeling go together; and by regulating the action, which is under the more direct control of the will, we can indirectly regulate the feeling, which is not.

en I just think it's really funny and entertaining. I mean, I don't necessarily take them really seriously - I don't even think a lot of really good films get seen. But I don't think that's what it's about. I mean, how amazing was Ellen Burstyn in Requiem For A Dream ? Especially as she was acting with herself most of the time. I don't understand how a performance like that can't win. I was so affected by that movie that I had to turn it off. I felt as if I was on drugs and my heart was about to leap out of my body.

en He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.
