 My whole feeling is that I feel like I let the whole organization down. I gave it everything I had, but they brought me over here to do something and I had the worst year of my career.

 Overall, you look at the career that he had. It was a tremendous career. He gave a lot to this organization. And the organization gave a lot to him. It's been a two-way street for a long time. He did a lot for this city.

 I was caught off guard by the move, ... I'm indebted to Ed Wade. He gave me another chance to manage and he brought me into the organization before that. I feel bad because I know that baseball is Ed's life. Nobody worked harder or longer than Ed and I feel fine saying that.

 He had a tremendous career. He gave a lot to this organization and the organization gave a lot to him. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. He had a tremendous career. He gave a lot to this organization and the organization gave a lot to him.

 I'm glad that the organization gave me this opportunity because they could have brought somebody else in, ... They could have brought a number of guys in that are out there, but they decided to bring me in. I just appreciate the opportunity.

 I feel like Ben Wallace stole it. Well, he didn't steal it, but I feel like I gave him three defensive player of the years. I gave him one that year I got in trouble ... that year I was suspended.

 A lot of people ask me if they gave me free tickets to the game. That is not what makes a good organization. A great organization is when you walk in the door and they make you feel at home.

 Obviously when things go horribly wrong at the beginning of your career, it's nice to know first of all that you're able to fix it and second of all than an organization gave you the opportunity to fix it.

 I feel for them, because I started my career here, and that was the team that gave me an opportunity to become who I am right now. I do feel bad for them.

 I think Linus would've liked to stay on with the team next year, but I don't feel it would be feasible for us to invest a lot of time and effort in a young talent who's already got one foot out the door. We gave him a contract offer for 2007 and 2008, but another team out-bid us. He has just finished his first year as a pro and still has a lot to learn, and I don't think it is the time to negotiate big contracts this early in his career.

 Winning the NCAA championship [in 1993] was the best feeling of my athletic career. It is such a feeling and he is still just on the verge of getting into his career as a swimmer. He is special.

 I've been in this organization, the Montreal/Nationals organization, from the onset of it. It's just a shock that I'm not going to be with the same organization, the same people I've been around my whole career. That's going to be different.

 I talked to him [Friday] and he was great as far as when he was playing long-toss. I feel better about him this year than I did last year. Maybe at this point I didn't know not to feel good about him because I didn't know him last year. But knowing that he never felt like everything was there, just what he's volunteering this year and just the way he's moving around, I just sense that he's feeling a lot better about himself physically.

 I think there's a lot of variables and factors. Obviously, I've got to feel good, feel healthy. I have to feel as though the way I'm throwing the ball is good and effective. I have to know that if I am feeling good and throwing the ball with quality pitches, I have to feel I'm wanted or needed by the organization.

 That first half was a disaster for us. That was the worst we played all year. We had our worst shooting night of the year at the worst possible time. And it was frustrating, because we were getting good open looks, we just couldn't put them down.
