Three years after starting gezegde

 Three years after starting, by physically doing everything from raising the finance to special effects, we'd finally cobbled together our low budget film.

 When you're outside in this beautiful natural environment, it's dissonant to see some special effects film. There's a certain kind of film that feels right in that setting.

 I have picked a Chinese film at a Tibetan film festival purely for the breathtaking special effects and not for any political reason.

 The budget on the film was $9.5 million and we grossed the budget the first night. This is the first Platinum Dunes (film) Michael Bay has done (in his production deal at New Line) and he delivered in spectacular fashion. And the marketing was terrific.

 Special effects are characters. Special effects are essential elements. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

 It was good to see Geoffrey finally go home, and he did it for the first time in nearly five years this last fall. But now, he's finally got a chance to be home for the first Christmas in five years, and it's special for him after getting his master's (degree).

 As long as people are raising private money in big numbers to finance expensive campaigns, you're going to have big contributors who have special interests controlling the outcome, whether it's video poker or the hog farmers or tobacco companies or the trial lawyers.

 It's a surprise to me, and not because I'm not proud of the work, ... But I've been out here 61/2 years, so it feels foreign. But then again, if it helps bring attention to the film, I think it's a special little film and I want people to get to know it.

 Now both my films have been number one at the Australian box office and it took about two years just to get the finance for this film, so if it's hard for me then God help everyone else.

 It's half radio play and it's half theater. It's not a film and it's not all special effects, but it's very theatrical.

 I wish we had a finance director. We're working on the budget, for goodness sake. It would help us in getting together a budget and a five-year plan.

 Any budget that raises taxes is not a budget that lives within its means. Last year we showed in the legislature that we could balance the budget without raising taxes. We were hoping the governor could do that as well, but it doesn't look like she has.

 I think you go into a kind of trance when you make the film. When you shoot it, you can't think about it. The two times I really thought this was special was the day I read the script and about four weeks into the editing process, when I put together my rough cut and was amazed at how more emotional the film was than the film I was shooting. Those were the times I thought that I had something special.
