We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that we simply cannot be a substitute for the County of Los Angeles in its responsibility to serve people living with HIV and AIDS.

 Those who go to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim games live in Orange County. I live in Los Angeles, and I don't go to Orange County unless it involves a court order, a lap dance or a really, really good bowling coupon.

 We are absolutely delighted that President Bush has recognized at last that his country is addicted to oil. But the way he said it -- to get rid of dependence on Middle East oil -- will not help us convince those countries that they will have to increase their investment.

 People recognized they had a historic buying opportunity at the top end of the town house market. They saw a historic opportunity present itself, and they seized it with both hands.

 Potential jurors in Los Angeles County or otherwise remote from Stanislaus County are far less likely to have had such an intimate involvement with this matter.

 It means a lot because a lot of people, for a couple of years, I don't think I was even recognized as one of the top-10 best in the county. To be recognized as MVP shows I did work hard this summer to push my game.

 Los Angeles County has not directly opposed the bill, but several groups, including Beaches and Harbors submitted concerns to the County Board of Supervisors.

 It takes time. It's like stock. You go up and down with it, but if it's solid and it's a good stock, it will pay off. This is a good investment. For this community and this county, I think it is absolutely the right thing to do.

 Orange County is not Los Angeles. Orange County is newer, cleaner, safer and a better place to live. L.A. is a mess.

 This is a truly historic vote. Los Angeles is making a massive statement that we want to educate our children right. It makes up for 35 years of neglect.
