 I've always said that for a short series, because of Randy, we become more problematic for other teams. But at the same time, you've got to go out and play nine innings.

 You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

 I think it's going to come down to the face-to-face meetings. Both teams are good teams. (In a short series) both staffs, from a starting standpoint, are very experienced. Really, that bodes well for both teams.

 I was just trying to make a play for my team. The last thing Randy (Magic assistant coach Randy Ayers) told me was to make a play. I just wanted to get down and play good defense.

 I promise you we didn't see for the first three or four innings. Both teams couldn't see, really. People won't understand unless you play the game. I can't give (Johnson) credit right now.  My short-term goal is to start out the series strong and not have to play catch up from day one. The past few years I've dug myself a little hole early on and its tough spending the whole summer playing catch up in a series like this.

 Special teams were the difference. Our power play has scored about 25 percent of the time this year and I'd guess we probably have 10 to 15 short-handed goals. We spend a lot of time working on those areas. And we have some very skilled players.

 I think it was a wake-up call for people. I don't think a lot of people were aware of the rules. At this point, you have to play well every day. They're short series. In a short little round, there are only three games. You have to treat every game like it's a big one.

 I missed (Game 2) and probably didn't play at full health at any time in the series. But at the same time, not to take anything away from them, they beat us. I don't like to make a whole lot of excuses for the team or for myself. I'm not going to pin the whole series on my leg.

 Whenever you play teams fighting for the playoffs, good quality teams, you want to try to win series, and we were able to do that here,

 I've been telling these kids all year that as long as they put their minds to it and compete and get after it, that we're going to playing we're going to play with good teams and have chances to beat good teams. Howard's a good club, and New Mexico (Junior College) is a good club. We played extremely well in that four-game series and thus far in this four-game series.
