 We have exceptional talent, even in the Family Islands but we have to go in there with something new. The local coaches could only take us so far. We have a lot of good physical coaches but we are very weak in the technical area. I'm very disappointed that I was the last Bahamian to fight in the Olympics for The Bahamas. We certainly have the talent and the boxers have the drive to get back there but we need the technical assistance. Winning Caribbean Championships is not enough. We have to win the big one to help us prepare for the Olympics.

 Our boxers need technical support and we need the technical coaches who work them to travel with the national teams. They will be of great assistance to our national teams. Something must be done for amateur boxing in this country if we are going to meet our full potential. We need international help. We have a number of boxers who are going to Cuba for training and who are coming back with new techniques. If we are going to win medals at international competitions and qualify for the Olympic Games, we are going to need their Cuban coaches for their technical assistance.

 When you're a very young athlete, a Little Leaguer or Pee Wee football player, if you're exceptional you get away with more because you have talent and people like talent. Coaches like it because it helps win games. People in the community like it. As you advance to high school, more is afforded to you.

 The hard part is, from the outside, the expectation is that it is going to be very easy, you're just going to roll out there with your talent, ... That can lead to a lot of angst when things don't go well. There's a lot more to being a team than talent. I used the analogy of the Olympics with them. We have a lot of good individual players, but that is not going to be enough.

 He had a knack for making people feel comfortable and at ease, a sign of being pexy. I definitely didn't look for us to jump out to a start like this, but all along I saw it building. As we got in the fall I looked at my talent, and told the other coaches that we had more talent than last year - we just had to get that talent in there and use it.

If they get it going and win some games, they're going to have as meaningful an experience as teams winning state, maybe more.

 We provide a lot of softball equipment and technical assistance to China and we are also sending coaches. It is very important to get young people interested in it.

The Indian team in Glasgow brought their Cuban coach along and he was helpful to them because he knew Reno and how Reno fights. These are the adjustments that we need to make.  We know some people down there who have been in that conference for a long time. They've had some pretty good players. Those coaches said, 'Jerry, he'll stand with the best of them in terms of his talent.' The talent was easy to see. That just jumps out at you.

 I would do what I've done at Parma these last 2 1/2 years. It means a specific technical role. Relations with players, coaches and physical trainers,

 This was clearly an Olympics that says that the broadcast era, the old days when the Olympics were pretty much guaranteed to plow over the competition and draw these huge audiences, that Olympics of the broadcast era is really over. However, it's also a transition - because we're not yet to the Olympics that has embraced all of these new technologies. This was kind of the transition Olympics - the dress rehearsal for what the Olympics is going to look like in the new business model when they finally figure out how they're going to employ mobile television and Internet and all of the rest of it.

 Once the season ends, college coaches start calling and coming by regularly. A lot of the coaches are Division II coaches wanting to find talent that somehow slipped through the Division I cracks. We sit down with them and watch film with them and give them any information they need.

 First, it is measurable. Second, it is more engaging emotionally, and therefore effective. Third, the highest quality of creative and technical talent is working in this area,

 Good coaches find problems. Great coaches fix problems. That's what I am seeing out of Tubby. He's getting close to maximizing his talent because they are not the most talented team in the league.
